...Formerly an AKC standard poodle breeder for 15 years, Henry has been devoted to labradoodles for the past seven. There was something different about her labradoodle pups, she says.
"They came out kicking and screaming and ready to feed. They were just healthier. I never went back to poodles," she says, noting that in comparison, her purebreds took a day or two after birth to move with purpose and find their mothers.

.....She learned of labradoodles more than three years ago, and persuaded her dad to allow her to breed them, which at $850 a pup, could pay for her education.
"'Doodles are her thing," says her father, Leroy Daub. Amber's first four labradoodle puppies, born in January, were more playful and energetic than any she has seen, she says.
Henry, who has been breeding 'doodles for seven years and has third- and fourth-generation pups, has collaborated with Daub in their joint breeding efforts.
As they grow, labradoodles are highly trainable, Henry says, occasionally with amazing results.
"A woman who uses one of my labradoodles as a guide dog tells me that the dog can turn on lights, get things from the refrigerator and take wash out of the dryer," Henry says......
...Labradoodles do not shed and have a gentle nature and intelligence that makes them easy to train to assist children, particularly those with autism, and adults with special needs, the association says.....

The schnoodle (a cross between a schnauzer and a poodle), the labradoodle (Labrador-poodle), the peekapoo (Pekinese and poodle mix), the Yorkipoo (Yorkshire terrier-poodle), cockapoo (cocker spaniel and poodle), the goldendoodle (a golden retriever and poodle), as well as the vulcanos (Doberman and boxer) are all new designer breeds....
...Maybe you would be better off with a less-active, more easygoing mixed breed like a ''labradoodle'' -- a Labrador-standard Poodle crossbreed that, because of hybrid vigor, is healthier than either of its AKC registered purebred parents, and possibly more intelligent and emotionally stable...
