I don't paint dogs or other animals unless they're part of a portrait with human subjects, but friends sometimes ask me to do their dogs and I have a hard time coming up with ideas about who to send them to. However, I just ran across a woman who does pet portraits from photos and her prices are really reasonable - much more so than mine would be! Her portraits are watercolor and pen and ink and they're really lovely. If anyone has been thinking about memorializing a pup or two here's the link:

Yes, she's especially good with fur, which is hard! I'm not sure how she'd handle a doodle, though, and also it would be hard to decide at what point in the grooming cycle you'd want your darling memorialized!
