i would think no walking during a bad storm...just try to run out to a spot that is protected for potty. Not that I have much experience, but we did have a very windy lightening storm last year and that's what we did.
We play lots of indoor fetch if we have a bad rain (we'll still walk them in light to moderate rain) _________________ Leslie M |

OoOoOHHH! Never thought of that. Like Leslie, we have some pretty good storms here but nothing like what you experience.
I don't even know how to answer this as last night we had a pretty hefty storm and Bogie had to go. I rushed him out and he just looked around at the blowing trees and did nothing for about 5 minutes. I'm sure you won't have 5 minutes to spare if a hurricane hits.
Are you further inland? .......or right where they hit.
Hopefully........it won't happen!!
Hope someone has some advice other then HOLD IT DOOD!!! _________________ Linda & Bogart

I hadn't thought about storms and our doodles till last night. We had really bad storm and we had a warning of a tornado. I guess about 30miles from us they saw the clouds form. And I don't know if it hit. But we had really hard winds, we lost a branch from one of our front trees. Nothing hit the new fence or house thank god. But I had all my boys and dogs in our small downstairs bathroom. Not too much room to move around in.
My small bathroom with three boys, 2 doodles and me. (Husband wasn't home yet)

Interesting that you brought this up....I just said to my husband the other day that we need a evacuation plan now that we're parents (no kids, just doodles). We live about 5 miles from the beach and althoughNorth Florida rarely gets a direct hit, we've had a lot of caucious evacuations through the years.
We will most likely evacuate to Atlanta (where we have family) and the girls will come with us. I'm going to put a little hurricane kit together with collapsable dog bowls, water, food (for us and them), among other things.
I don't know where you are in FL, but evacuations can be awful...lots of traffic, so better to be prepared then have to stop. Good news is hurricanes give you plenty of warning, whereas earthquakes and tornados can sneak up on you. _________________ Katie, Uma, and Juno |

Boy.....that is a FACT!!
How do you like Jacksonville? My son lives in Tampa now and if I EVER move, I've considered Jacksonville. I hear it's a real upcoming town and then there's Amelia Island.........sounds great! ...and you guys are usually spared of the hurricanes, aren't you? _________________ Linda & Bogart
