Ok, thanks for the info Nancy

- this is the first time AB has had an ear infection, there was no smell, so I'm hoping I caught it early and the stuff Dr. P gave me will clear it up - it's the same stuff I used for my labbie babies, if they had an ear infection and it always worked.

I only use the zymox ,nothing else, if its really bad i clean first whith colorhexiderm (its got a drying agent as well)
I only use zymox if the ears have a yeast smell or have gunk in them, as directed,
cleaning once a week with chlorhexiderm as a preventative and just to check weekly for anything starting,,

RIGHT ON NANCY! That's the advice and same med our Vet gave us on our first visit. Abby gets her ears done weekly with colorhexiderm. I also pluck the hair from the ear with a hemostat to help the cleansing process. If I see gunk or debris I follow up with 5 drops of Tresaderm. Ear infections are a real pain. My MIL just spent 1k on ear problems for her Yorkie. I was so mad Mad Mad Mad I told her if she wants to blow her daughters inheritance to use it on young men and Likker Laughing Laughing Laughing

PS do you use the Chlorhexiderm Flush to wash the ears? do you just squirt it in the ear canal an rub outer ear to work in then wipe out?

Yes and try plucking the hair as well. It's easy and does not hurt the dog at all. I rub the ear canal as you described for a few minutes then put a cotton ball in there and swipe out any debris. I follow up with a q-tip. It seems to be working well for us. Smile

Thanks, I'll order some

- I do pull the hair out, but Dr. P got a lot more out, guess I need to work on using the hemostats to see if I can get more hair out

Glad to hear that Annabelle is doing better. I had a friend who suggested using a barrette to hold the ears up to allow the air to get in once in a while. Lani has has one the wash we used I squirted in, rubbed it
around then let her outside to shake it out, we did it on the deck.

We have the squirt in cleaner also, always used it for our lab babies, a must to use outside or in the garage Wink

Product information:

"Chlorhexiderm Flush
ChlorhexiDerm Flush is formulated for general cleansing of conditions where an antimicrobial formulation would be of benefit. ChlorhexiDerm Flush contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, proven to have antimicrobial activity against bacteria, yeast and viruses, as well as vehicle enhanced surfactants and solvents that provide effective cleansing and potentiate efficacy of active ingredients. Gentle and non-irritating, ChlorhexiDerm Flush may be used as often as necessary. Pleasant fragrance, non-staining, with a "safety-sized" dispensing tip."

Does anyone use the wipes with this chlorhexiderm on it???
Cool
