MTD...i understand both your frustration, anger and worries as NO ONE should ever go thru this but at the same time we can't name names
BUT your new posting allows OTHERS To PM you Privately for info on who the breeder is.
DI was doing her job as moderators are bound to the rules which doesn't always mean we want to delete something
but we can't advertise or put down a kennel with their names/identity etc
YOUR repost is a happy compromise asyour trying to make others aware of the possibility of things like this happening and preventing future ocurrences.
as one person put it in past when doing business
TRUST BUT VERIFY!!!
MTD.............i really do want to keep hearing updates and progress of ABBY's training since she is in good hands with you and your wife.
and ABBY hopefully is going to outgrow her timidness as peanut went thru major timidness for some time and now at 14mos is progressing well with training the past 3mos.
BEAU also a GD is timid if a voice is raised and need polite tender corrections
sooooo hopefully ABBY has the goldenretriever sensitivity that with work they can outgrow in oder to be a good canidate for therapy. _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

mtd,
I think you are VERY MUCH within your rights to contact any and all associations concerning your experience with a breeder.
In fact, there are other associations - or avenues that serve as advertising - that pride themselves on being customer-referral based and if the breeder who has hurt you or that you think has acted inappropriately is listed on those you might get even more satisfaction.
Breeders SHOULD be accountable for their business practices! I have not had a bad experience with your breeder, but the fact is that it is disappointing to me to hear of your experience and it does affect me. We really should try to get both sides if we are re-thinking whether or not to refer business to this breeder, but that gets messy too.
It probably doesn't help you but there are (sadly) breeders who think a vet's exam or OFA testing makes them a good breeder and it's just not that simple. But how to fix that problem isn't simple either. So most of us try to just go on and stay honest and be careful about who and how we recommend others. It's a big responsibility to refer business and frankly I've done it well and I've done it badly. If we've gotten a little help from a breeder we feel obligated to give a little back. But how and where we do that is up to us.
At the very least I would probably contact the signing vet on the health certificate you were given, if I were you, and ask some pretty pointed questions. And I don't blame you for being angry at the conditions and lack of satisfaction you have recieved. I'm really sorry for that. I'm sure that your letter - if sent with a cover-letter showing some respect - will be taken to heart by the director of the Premium Breeder's List. I know for a fact that she has taken to heart similar complaints about other breeders.
But I do believe that some courtesy should be shown to her for her consideration of your experience.
I hope that helps.

Personally MTD I agree with you. I know the rules of this forum and all but every website that sells "products"* has some sort of place for comments and reviews both negative and positive. I think there should be a thread or category where posts could be put about breeders that folks have gotten their pups from. When you contact a breeder for references he/she is not going to give you the names of unsatisified customers so one would never truly know the rep of the breeder. I got lucky with Maya....she also came from a breeder in Canada (although not the same one I think) and she arrived healthy and happy. (A liitle scared to come out of her crate at first but that is to be expected) Once I got her out she was fine and I have had no shyness problems with her.
While I agree that this forum should stay friendly etc if someone has a negative experience with a breeder and can write just the facts and keep emotion out of it (like the revised post MTD wrote) then I see no harm in posting that. It will help others in the long run!!! All the bredders on this forum have stated over and over that they are breeding to better the breed and care very deeply about their puppies. If an individual feels that the breeder they purchased thier pup from allegedly did not honor their contract and deceived the buyer then others should know about it. Esp if the breeder is listed on a premium breeder list. The breeder has every right to respond to a negative post and list what was done to remedy the situation (if anything).
I am just thinking about future LD owners here. How many times has the question of what breeder to get your puppy from has come up? How many times have we refered prospective LD owners to the premium breeder list? If there are breeders on there that are not honoring contracts and sending diseased puppies they should be removed from the list until such time that these problems have been fixed.
Also any one doing research on products* by reading reviews knows that one bad review does not make the product* bad but reviews complaining of the same thing one might take notice.
* IN NO WAY DO I SEE MY DOG OR ANY DOG AS A PRODUCT!! I JUST USED THAT WORD FOR A LACK OF A BETTER WORD.
I am sorry this is so long but I am very confused on how there is a big passionate topic warning prospective buyers on buying from puppy mills and BYB but when one can state in a factual way a bad experience with a supposed "reputable" breeder it is not allowed. _________________ Heather, Morgan, Maya, and Sadie

I really like to stay out of these types of things, but for some reason I am inclined to comment tonight
I fully appreciate the frustration and anger you must have had dealing with your breeder. I would be quite angry if I were in your situation. I would also be angry to see this "breeder" on a premium list. I would very much want her name to be removed.
The reason I agree w/the deletion of your post was the precidence it would have set. If you and then others were allowed to post such negative comments it would be hard to control. A legitimately bad experience by you could eventually turn into someone having a silly argument with a breeder and then tarnishing his/her name over it on this forum. I just don't see how it could be controlled if the moderators were to start to allow this.
mtd - I hope you aren't offended by my comments - I really enjoy reading about Abby and your training of her... _________________ Leslie M |

Just to be clear to everyone you can post negative thoughts just please don't name the breeders kennel. As I agree there should be a place to air when you feel you've been mistreated there are still two sides to every story. Not saying in any way that what you went through is not completely correct just that naming someone without them being able to defend theirselves isn't right. Then that is when it would become an issue and a argurment and things could get ugly that is what we try and avoid here so the easiest way is just not to name names.
If buyers want to contact you to get the name of the breeder and then email them privately then they have the right to do that and then it stays private and not public.
I hope everyone understands and respects Marks wishes. _________________ Linda & Gracielou
