well, to be fair, there are LOTS of dogs and breeds where that shows up.....I have a very limited exposure to Cockers. But my groomer/friend has seen plenty and was quick to speak up about her experience, so that has gotten my attention.
Having said that, the silky coat is lovely!

I posting some pictures of my best friend Peche who passed a couple of weeks after I got Jonah. He was a purebred cocker who all the vets he had in his 15 year life were shocked and pleased at his wonderful temperament even up to the day he died. I was so lucky to have this wonderful irreplaceable boy. He was the reason I never got another cocker.......it would have felt like I was replacing him. He did have the excitable peeing only if a stranger baby talked to him. He never barked til he was almost a year old.
This is Peche after an allergic reaction to the combo of his shots. For the rest of his life he had to have a shot of benadril at the same time. This was after the shot, but before the swelling went down.
Here's Peche around 8mo
And around 12
Sorry to hijack, but I just had a tearful trip down memory lane....thanks for indulging me..... _________________ gene , jonah , miko and rumor

Gene he was adorable! So pretty, and looking the same at 8 mos and 12 yrs!
but my question is, did your Peche have the same foul mouth that the actor Joe Peche does?

Gene,
Peche is GORGEOUS and will be waiting to greet you at the rainbow bridge! Your Mom and Peche are probably playing fetch right now and laughing at your tribes antics! |

Thanks......I actually pronounced it like in Depeche Mode...that's who he was named for. And yes he did have a foul (smelling) mouth in later years due to a dental problem. I was afraid to have his teeth cleaned because of the anesthesia. And the only thing he would do with chewies was walk around with them and cry trying to find a place to hide them....usually under my pillow, then later under my Mom's pillow(much to her chagrin)! The only thing that changed between 7 months and later was his hair got curlier.....and he got cataracts.
I know Peche and my Mom are playing together....she always told people he was HER granddog!! _________________ gene , jonah , miko and rumor

Gene, Peche was gorgeous, looks just like the little guy who lived down the street from me growing up
Annabelle is a granddoggie - Gramma just made and mailed her some oatmeal-cinnamon cookies from Florida _________________

When on holidays a couple of years ago I walked into a little boutique which sold house accessories (many breakables).
Behind the desk were two beautiful fluffy dogs. They came to greet me but were very calm and well behaved. They also went to my little boys to greet them. They were not hyper and did not disturb any of the breakable in the cramped store. I was so impressed with them that I asked the store manager (who owned the dogs) what type they were and she said cockapoos! They were wonderful sweet dogs. I did do a bit of research on them when looking for a new dog. I can't remember why I didn't go that route (I think they weren't as good with children in general as a labradoodle was). But the ones this lady owned were amazing and beautiful and so gentle. _________________ Lily and Bailey |

personally i love cocker spaniels but for us with bad allergies and son's asthma doodles were the only way to go as the whole family agreed on this breed.
We're also big animal lovers and jokesters as well
so a Doodle fits in perfectly.........how i ended up with 3 is still a mystery to me hahhaaaahahahaaaaaaa
all i can say is NEVER a dull moment here! _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

The only Cockapoo i know is a great dog - but the Cocker Spaniels i know aren't - totally due to bad owners, one being our neighbor. We totally would have gotten a cockapoo if I had been able to find a giant one _________________ Brooke and Riley (F1b) |

I went to AKC website and read about the two breeds when I was researching which "designer" dog was best for our family. You can read about size and general social/temp. characteristics of each breed. Also, you can see how big each breed gets and know that you could end up with a nice mix or a dog that may favor more characteristics of only one of the breeds. When you mix a shedding dog and a non-shedding dog it really depends on the dog's genes when it comes to shedding. Whichever "designer" breed you decide on, your breeder will be able to help you pick one that is likely to be non-shedding. I picked the Labradoodle because I wanted a bigger dog with a happy-go-lucky personality of the lab and the non-shedding side of the poodle. I have yet to meet a LD that was anti-social! |

| OK - no more comparisons to American doodles, Wheaten Terriors and Cockapoos. I decided to go with a multigen Australian Labradoodle from a breeder I already visited in New York. Unfortunately, I never did find anyone on this forum who bought from any of the breeders I visited. I take it most of your are American doodle owners. Who wants to do a poll? Just kidding. Anyway, pups are due in February and anticipated take home is probably the end of May. Can't wait to share pictures and stories but don't want to get too excited until pups ae ready to take home!!! I'm not even going to tell the kids yet!!! Breeder assures me he has excellent history of the sire and dames temperments and prior litters. |
