This is the only forum I post to, although I sometimes browse others. For years I participated in the rec.crafts.textiles.quilting usenet newsgroup, but now I lurk and rarely post. Another newsgroup I joined over 8 years ago was alt.support.stop-smoking. That group helped me stop and on Dec. 2 I will be smoke free for 9 years! I couldn't have done it without them.

I post on another forum for women that has a few different groups - and i will have to stay away from the pets board as I already got flamed for "buying" a mutt.

they say all labradoodle breeders are backyard breeders and puppy mills just out for a buck that don't care about their dogs. yeah, that's right, believe what you want ladies!

i just keep in mind that there are narrow minded people everywhere, especially online!

Unfortunately I think there are backyard breeders who are taking advantage of the prices that can be charged for doodles and throwing together any old lab or golden and any old poodle et voilą! The groomer I'm going to be trying for Chouette had never seen such a sweet, calm doodle; she said the ones in her area are all really hyper and she seemed to be indicating that they were the result of that sort of haphazard breeding. So people may have seen some of the other side of doodle-producing and gotten a bad impression about them.

I am so glad I found this forum and thence the wonderful group of breeders (and owners) who post here! Of course you can get lucky with a less-carefully-thought-out or accidental breeding, but I do hear stories about the other sort and the problems people have with the resulting puppies.

Which doesn't mean that someone on a dog board should try to tar all doodles with the same brush! But a person on an AKC forum is already heavily invested financially and in terms of ego in their pedigreed animal.

The post that got me started on this was one about somone on another forum being mean. When I read that it was a soaper....I thought soap opera board? Well...soap makers make more sense (to me anyhow).

There is just an amazing amount of information available on forums..some good some not. I found a forum that gave Tim and I some really good information regarding where we would retire in South Carolina. How else could we have found people actually living there that we could correspond with?

You guys are just wonderful and I am so grateful for the day, almost a year ago, that I stumbled across this forum.

God Bless!

I check on 2 other forums beside this one. One is a doll maker's forum and the other an alum forum from my HS. I only participate daily in this one. If I don't get my LD forum fix sometime during the day, I'm lost!

oh, this isn't an AKC board, or a purebred one of any means!

and i agree, there are many breeders that don't do testing, genetic or temperament, but they lump all "designer" dog breeders into one category - wrong.

what they want is for dog lovers to only ever get a shelter dog if they want a mixed breed.

Dreamer, if I'm thinking of the board you posted about, you are right! They are a tough crowd. I've been defending the doods there even before I got Jett three years ago. They are pretty set in their thinking.

I think you are on to something Leslie.

My daughter and I go to the pet store on a regular basis just to visit all of the animals. Most of the puppies are hybrids that are very expensive. The puppies have next to no info about them other then the breed of the Dad and Mom. People are buying these puppies as fast as the pet store can get them in. They sell them for $750-$1000. Shocked

How horribly sad. That's what I figured since there's literally zero information on them. My poor daughter wants to save them all.

I read different forums almost daily, For the last 5 yrs i have gotten involved in a few, Tooo involved Rolling Eyes
i have found most of the others are very biased and catty people ,that seem to think,,think their way or no way, go against the grain and your a bad person or they jump on you to get you out ,,still just amazes me at the tactics, and downrite hateful cattiness

Here i find wonderful people that truly care , that want help everyone,
I dont feel like that on this forum ..
my friends i have made here are NOT backstabbing jerks like i have felt in the past from a couple of the other forums,

I have seen it all,,in the past yrs, and i have gotten to the point that the only thing that matters is What I do for my dogs and my customers, its taken me a long time to get to this point, but with the help of my friendsi have made on THIS forum i am finally there, (you know who you are, thank you)
I want to take this time to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the love and support you have given me Smile
