Misspelled or not, Annmarie--thank you:

THIS IS THE KEY TO THIS WHOLE ISSUE.

what you choose to pay,
thats up to you...
I figure you pay more to know more about your dog (the breeder, the breeding lines, etc)

BUT BUT BUT

it/they STILL can't 100%, for sure, guarantee
a non-shedding,
non-mouthy (which includes the "sucking of fingers," Kristen Wink)
non-biting dog.
Australian or not.
For $2,500 or $250,000.

if and when you do decide,
and it IS a doodle,
of whatever heritage,
I do hope you'll still come back...
and post a picture of your SUCCESS!!!
Your hard work will pay off!!
Best of luck in your search!!

HAHAHA Laughing Laughing Laughing

Striker, my parents' flat-coated retriever mix, does the same thing. I always thought it was a testament to his true retriever. He does it a bit stronger than Napa. He'll actually put your finger between his molars. But, he never bites down fully to cause any sort of pain. It was like he knew the difference between flesh and his toys.

Anyway, I was quite amazed by it. Embarassed Understandably, some people aren't comfortable with their hands or fingers in dog's mouths, but I knew he'd never do anything to even remotely cause even a scratch. Laughing Laughing

You think I want a showcase dog? Not in the least. Personally, I would love to save a dog in a shelter but my husband will only allow me to buy one from a breeder since we had a bad experience last time. Obviously, nothing is a guarantee, but if i don't go along with him, I won't have any dog at all. He also wanted me to get a dog that doesn't shed. I thought the chances were better buying an Australian doodle than an American doodle in terms of shedding. I'm not sure anyone has an absolute answer to the question as to which dogs have a better chance of producing non-shedders. So far I haven't come across any Aussie owners whose dogs shed - only other breeders and owners who tell me Aussie's can shed. I wish I knew which breeders they were from but I realize that's not the nature of this forum. All I can do is try to verify that other pupps from the same parents I am choosing a puupy from produced all non-shed dogs in the past. I was hoping more Aussie owners were on this forum but I realize that's not the case.

DITTO, whether you mean to or not, you sound like you are looking for a "show piece"
Well good luck to you,, especially if you think they wont shed,,they are hybirds all have a potential of shedding, no matter who says what,
with them infusing spaniels and terriers in their lines there is alotmore worries with health issues then just shedding,,there are australian labradoodle breeders and owners that post here, and i believe some actually answered you, have you thought that perhaps they cant honestly disagree because the info that has been offered is true?

I know of a person that purchased a australian labradoodle spent 3500 got it here and had to have expensive surgury to correct a genetic defect,

There is nothing we can say to assist you in your choice obviously ,,
so by all means do what your heart tells you ,,there are no bad doodles just different types and with any dog there can be problems, just trying to save you heartbreak ,,and the dog from having to be rehomed because you have a different ideal of what it should be, nothing of which would be the fault of the pup,,i wish you well

In my humble opinion, ALL dogs shed...to some degree. So, it is like arguing over what specific color of blue the sky is.
I think that newaustralianlab deserves honest and respectful answers beause she is trying to collect information...isn't this something we all try to encourage buyers to do?
If we are offended by her questions or if we, perhaps, feel attacked by the tone, we have a right to respectfully say so...but I do hope that we can all rise above this level of attack and retreat that I find to be offensive in other forums.
This forum is special to me...precicely because most of the people here are respectful and courteous...even when we disagree.
Granted, I have lost my cool at times...and I am not preaching...just trying to get past this particular debate because I feel that the offense taken may be misplaced.

Thanks Linda and Diane.
I want to clarify something...I just noticed that my post followed one from Nancy and I dont' want anyone to be misled. My post was NOT addressed to Nancy or to anyone in particular...it was a very general message, I hope.

Thanks Jac for clarifying that

I know what you meant, and tottally agree,
i feel that everyone needs all the info out there to make a educated decision,,,,some just dont want to hear it, unfortunatly

I truly believe in the long run its the PUPPY that pays for a uneducated decision which breaks my heart
