My friend Coley's son couldn't decide what he wantd to be for Halloween this year, so Coley was asking me for ideas.
I saw a fabric panel for a Mummy tunic that you wear over a white shirt so I got and sewed it up for Noahie. A few of the things he wanted to be wouldnt work as he is in a wheel chair. He wasn't too sure about the Mummy, didnt know what a Mummy was but since "Aunt Snowy Reindeer" was gonna make it for him, he said it would be good
I can't wait to see him in his costume
here are pics of front and back

if I can figure out how to thread the bobbin in my mom's old singer....I'm going to make the costumes for Jonah and Miko next year. My Mom taught me how to use it when i was a kid.....but could never get the bobbin thing. Last time I used it.....she still had to do that for me. Now she's gone, and I still don't know!! Guess I'll have to google search....... _________________ gene , jonah , miko and rumor

Duh....I should have known....my mother NEVER threw anything away! I found the instructions!! It's a model 201-2 from 1939!! It's got a nice cabinet that needs a little work because when my Mom was an invalid, she used it as a night stand and spilled on it a few times and it took off part of the finish. Next time I have some spare time, I'll try it out. Here's some pictures of it.....
and the devil bobbin......

Great machine Gene...an old work horse for sure!!! And probably a heck of a lot easier to run and take care of than the new ones!!!...hopefully the instruction booklet will have a detailed diagram on how to thread the bobbin...before you go pullin out that red thread, assuming your Mom was the last to thread it, study it carefully to see how it's threaded! _________________ Kathie,Raleigh & Molly!

Thank you - I was quite happy with it, for someone who sews, it probably would have taken about 1/2 hour to make instead of 3 hours but it was made with Love so that's what counts
Gene, your machine is older than mine but it looks like the same bobbin system
drop the bobbin in, then slowly turn the big round knob on right side of machine turning away from you - watch the needle, it should go down like it was sewing, as it goes down it should pick up the thread from the bobbin and pull that thread back up when needle comes up, then slide a needle or pin from left to right under the needle which should pull the bobbin thread up, then pull out about 6 or 8 inches of thread from the bobbin, close bobbin door and you should be good to go Hope it works for you
If you have any problems and need more help I'd be happy to call and try to talk you thru it _________________

Great Doodle costume.
Love the old Singer machine Gene
I have a newer machine and wish I had an old one as I find the new ones
complicated and the bobbin thing has gone from an easy application to
one of a big pain in the aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa(you get it)
try this

YW - I hope you get it to work.
I like the old machine, no complications, it's just very heavy with the cabinet. I leave it in Dining room so I only have to move it about 6 feet to put it in a spot where I can open cab top and sew. I've been debating on a newer, lighter weight machine but can't justify it since I only use machine once or twice a year at most _________________
