You really don't want to hear what I have to say... so 'no comment'!!
The family and children are the victims here, and of course 'Iggy'.... _________________ Kathie,Raleigh & Molly!

Ok Nancy...YOU asked for it!!!!
| Quote: | personally i think that too many "RESCUE" people and places think their poop dont stink,,
they have lost sight of the true reason for helping animals ,Its more about Control, Wholier then thou type of attitude
I have recently seen this first hand!!!
|
I also know from first hand experience! I agree with your statement wholeheartedly! I know the rescue groups do a wonderful service for dogs and famlies, BUT........
A few years ago we signed up with a 'Lab' rescue group. We had (have) a nice fenced in yard, and have had dogs all our married lives (32) At that time we were looking for a companion for Charlie, who has since passed...after the 4th lab being brought to the house to 'check us out', and after being denied for the 4th time, they finally 'fessed' up that we were not eligible for ANY of their dogs because we worked full time!!!
Well who pray tell dosen't???? We decided that this group was a little too 'anal' (sorry.. ) for our tastes, and continued looking on our own...that's when we found Molly, who needed to be rehomed due to terminal cancer in her family....and the rest is history.....
Iggy has been uprooted 4 times! Once from his original family, once from the 'group'...once from Ellen, and now from his current family....I don't think this group has anyone's welfare in mind at all...for this woman to do what she did to those kids and Iggy is unconcianable!!! I think Ellen was sincere in rehoming Iggy to the family, and probably never gave the contract a second thought... the 'group' was probably mortified to think that they had lost control over the situation, and it has escalated to the fiasco that it now is......and there ya go....my two cents...for all it's worth....
Sorry you asked Nancy????- _________________ Kathie,Raleigh & Molly!

OK i will agree, if you both work full time RESCUE groups turn you down
i had a rescue group say at first they weren't sure about me and my family due to also having MAX if we could adopt "goldie" a doodle mix last winter near my town. Long story short, I got Peanut in the meantime.
About 3 months later after Goldie was returned to the rescue group they then tried to pressure me into adopting Goldie.
I was nice to them but asked a few questions that weren't answered.
Some rescue groups are great , others i say have "too many rules".
I know of someone on this forum who was turned down and never given reason why, NOW they have a wonderful private rescue doodle who needed their home and love so much!
I myself prefer the rescue groups that use volunteer foster homes and understand more than rules. Some foster familes work outside the home too _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

You hit the nail right on the head!!! NO!!! If that was one of their pre-requisites, I could have come home at lunch..(I did when Raleigh was a baby)....or I could have had a neighbor come in...but they were so closeminded about their 'rules'...grrrrr...
Anyway I'm glad it worked out the way it did, or we never would have had our daily comedy routine..Raleigh!!! _________________ Kathie,Raleigh & Molly!

This totally happened to us. We applied to adopt a doodle (pre Kirby) and were turned down...basically because we both work full time. We understood this would be a negative for us so when we filled out the paperwork we indicated we would come home at lunch until the puppy was of an age that he could hold it all day, etc. We realized that we would never get a rescue dog w/our work schedules because doodles are cute and in demand. There would always be a family with someone home all day that would get priority over us.
That all being said, Kirby (being an adult dog) is a better fit for us so it all worked out.
Concerning the Ellen situation, I think 1) the rescue place could have evaluated the family the puppy was with...but also 2) there was a rule set by the group that the puppy should be returned if something didn't work out. Ellen did not seem to have followed this rule. I hear that the rescue group is getting death threats/etc and has had to temporarily shut down. So now there are more dogs not getting homes. I think Ellen thought she was above the rules due to being a celebrity.
In the end, if this family can provide a loving home, I think they should get the dog...for the good of the family and the good of the dog...they are the ones that lose out in all of this. I just think Ellen went about this in a poor way. _________________ Leslie M |

Bingo!!!
I KNEW It!!!
again they think they know everything, just makes me sick!!!!
and there are some Doodle Rescues that act the same,, sad sad sad
If i get my kennel down as low as we are planning,i may start a rescue again for doodles ,,I did it well before ,,i can do it again
The Doodle world sure needs some sane folks back to the basics helping doodles in need without judgements in any directions
just ask the right questions and give folks a chance to answer _________________ Nancy at Doodlesville(Virginia)

Know what? after reading about what some have gone thru, i am so happy i have been able to foster dogs to-date and place them with the family that is going to LOVE them the most and try their best to suit not only the dog's needs but theirs as well.
and LOVE that dog soooooooo much while understanding both it's good points and quirks.
once again i have to say "thank you Leslie" for giving KIRBY a 2nd chance in life _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut
