Ah Gene ... My deepest sympathy to your friend and to you.
Words always seem inadequate, but know good thoughts are with
you both at this sad time. I hope Friday afternoon you put on
some great music ... raise your glass ... and toast the memory of the good man
and your times together.

Oh my Gene, I'm so very sorry. In my friend's case, there's no two ways about it; she chose not to take advantange of the preventive care that was readily available to her. But in the case of your friend, with a missed diagnoses . . . well that just sickens me. I do realize and appreciate the tremendous stress and pressure endured by those in our health industry, but with so much at stake, that's just plain NOT acceptable . . . _________________ Diane (and Dakota)

(((((((((((Gene)))))))))) hugs to you and if you don't mind at 3pm Friday will say a prayer for you and your friend along with her family.
though the pain may be strong now eventually that will ease
and when that moment happens, hopefully the memories will become
stronger along with the existing friendship that you still have continues to grow and deepen.
Diane......prayers will continue
There is one rule I live by as years ago I watched 13 friends and family die in a 5 year period.
Each and every day I let those that I am close to know how much I love them dearly. _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

I agree, it is Not acceptable when testing is available to not have it done
I lost a friend to breast cancer 5 years ago - she left behind 3 children and a wonderful husband - Karen was a Nurse - she chose Not to have a mastectomy even though they told her that her survival rate would be Much higher if she had the mastectomy - I can't imagine not doing everything possible to beat cancer - such a sad loss, one that had a high chance of being prevented _________________

Didn’t know if I should post this, but I think I had to talk through it. This is such a strange day. Janet had surgery today. What I would have taken as bad news, Jerry, her husband, took as good news because they DID operate—I guess the surgeon wasn’t sure that he could. And she has months-to-years instead of weeks. When I called, I talked to a mutual friend and didn’t really mean to talk to Jerry, but I did. I told him Gene and I could come to Woodland (hospital) tomorrow if he needed hugs. He sounded pretty upbeat and said he would like us to come and the three of us could have dinner. Several of you told me not to be distant and I promised myself that I wouldn’t. This is just so weird. My husband and I both want to and will be supportive but I do think dealing with things like this come more naturally to a woman. All my husband can think of is what do we say? I told him just to pick up on the tone of any conversation and take it from there . . . Sooo, tomorrow will be a strange day too. Then we go to the lake for four days to take care of whatever we can for Janet and Jerry . . . I guess that will make it a strange week . . .
I hope you all are in the process of catching up on any routine tests you need to take. My husband and I are . . . _________________ Diane (and Dakota)

Prayers go out to you and your friends. I agree, just follow the conversation and try to keep a light heart. Prayers can do wonders in situations like these....and a smile never hurts.... _________________ gene , jonah , miko and rumor

Your husband will be fine. Tell him to let Jerry and Janet take the lead.
They may feel the need to laugh and make jokes (esp. if that's their personality).
My family has always alleviated this kind of pain by looking for something silly in the midst of sadness (there always seems to be).
Some folks are aghast at our behaviour but for us, to laugh is our way of not only respecting the circumstances, but easing the pain.
Good thoughts and prayers for your friends ... and for you and your husband. _________________ Mary and Ebbe,

Diane just let whatever feels natural for your husband be said and done.
hope you are okay and see the bright side of things and not be sad...i like her husbands view: the positive it has faith, hope , trust and belief in god with prayers _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

Continuing prayers
Sounds like you and hubby are being the best friends you know how to be - keeping in touch and helping out is wonderful, so many people walk away when a friend has cancer or a serious illness, not because they dont care, but because they dont know what to do or say. You will know what is right to do or say when you get there. Bless you both _________________

Diane and Gene, I got behind on keeping up with all the posts. I was so sad to read the posts about your friends. My heart goes out to both of you. Big hugs! Meg and Cali. _________________ Meg and Cali |

As I said I have beaten cancer in the past
and humour is what got me through.
I was very comfortable about making jokes about
myself and put people at ease, so just go with the flow of the
family and take your cue from them.
My best wishes and prayers will be with you ................ _________________ Sue & Denver
