Didn't have a chance to check yesterday.....
I am soooo glad and relieved that Moses has been found.
A little dirty, but no injury is GOOD NEWS!!
Your neighbors need to be fined for their uncovered well.
The dog got loose, yes, but probably would have come right home had he been able to get out of the pit by himself. If you get into trouble for him being loose....your son could pay the fine....maybe that will help him to remember, or take the time to hook him to the line. Regardless, the hole is a danger to many and should be addressed.
I pray they decide to move.
Sorry you had this crisis....I would have been frantic, too!
Glad your husband heard him....and went to rescue him!!
Thank God for His help in it all!

I had to run to pick up puppy food etc today and while I was gone the neighbors wife came over demanding $157 from my husband for damage to their pump! I missed all the excitement!
Now if they knew he was in there WHY didn't they tell us? Greg lost his cool and told her to leave... where to go and that he wasn't giving her any money since having that cover off is a danger and zoning violation. So she left, went home and called the police to come out. LOL
The officer told them they have to have that cover on UNLESS they're directly working on the pump/well and have to be in there. So they put it on, and then claimed they'd been working on the pump for the past 3 days steady which is why it was off. So Greg pointed out the dead grass under where the cover had laid OFF the well all summer... pointed out that the hole wasn't big enough for the dog AND the man to be in that hole while he was working on it (Since that's what he claimed) and the officer noted that in his report.
We did get a warning about the dog running loose, no fine since it was a first offense... and were told the neighbor has gotten fined because HIS dogs run lose and locals have been filing complaints about them.
The officer said they complained about us putting up the fence... we had a legal survey done to know where to put it so are safe there, and explained that it was to keep OUR dogs in and theirs out. Greg was able to show the officer the cable we chain Moses to when he's out, his rabies tags (which the neighbors dogs do nOT have) and the officer just advised us to keep our dog home. He did say they'll probably try taking us to small claims for the money; but if they do I'm just going to countersue for the plants, welcome mats, boots, and so on that their dog destroyed here this past summer. I know our homeowners insurance would pay if we submitted ther claim, but see no reason why we should have to. I'd rather fight them in court than give them anything.
The officer also advised us that if the neighbor comes back on our property (since Greg has told them to stay away) we should call and press charges for criminal tresspass. The local cops know the neighbor all too well. They've had to arrest him several times for possession of pot and meth, breakng and entering, dui, battery, and so on. We've seen him lead out of his house in cuffs more than once.
Greg was just shaking his head that they were whining about not having water thanks to our dogs damage... yet as soon as the officer left, they were outside hanging up clothes on the line. HUH?
And they wonder why we put up a fence... _________________ www.tinkerdoodle.net

OH TINK........i amsooooooooo happy MOSES is now back home SAFE and sound. I am soooo glad Moses wasn't hurt and he was discovered !!!
that had to be horrible
The other thing i want to mention is that i also would be scared of what would happen to a child if they fell down that hole.
Also to bad you can't put up any THORNY shrubs hahahhaaa and a few thorny trees to keep your neighbors out like
Barberry (shrub)
Hawthorne (tree) hint hint....thought maybe you'd get a chuckle!!!
and sorry to hear you have 'those kind of neighbors' and the good thing is that you do have a FENCE _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

Hmmmmm. I was going to say can they prove your pup broke the pump and that it didn't work??? before or after?
Geesh! It is sad to have neighbors like that...I am still going to pray they move! Thanks for the update....just glad Moses is home! Wonder if he would still be down there...with no word from them, if your hubby hadn't found him!!?*@#! Maybe a child would have heard him and gone to investigate and then checked for his owner??
How is your son over it all? _________________ Jane

Gene, I think THIS was retaliation for having put up the fence. Can't prove it, but they certainly know keeping Moses would get to us as much as anything they could do. Why else would they have just left him in there instead of pulling him out or telling us to? IF he did any damage, they could have prevented it by a. putting the cover on or b. getting him out of there in less than 30 hrs.
We've lived next to these dimwits for 2+ yrs now. It's certainly not the first encounter we've had with their stupidity. They're the type who are used to making demands and having people just back down to avoid trouble. Well since Neither Greg nor I will back down an inch, everything has turned underhanded and they make many threats to take us to court that so far have not happened.
Heck, take us to court! Let's see who the judge believes! Greg and I have perfectly clean records, have lived in this area our whole lives and are just a boring older couple who refuse to be pushed around. The judge will see us and say WHO? I don't know them... and look at him and Go NOT YOU AGAIN! LOL
Jane, the neighbor across the road from our 2 places SAW the neighbors 3 and 5 yr olds standing looking into the hole yesterday so we KNOW they had to have seen him and no one told us where he was. _________________ www.tinkerdoodle.net

Oh, my goodness!! I cannot believe they didn't know he was down there that long!! They knew, like you said this was payback or something!!
Well, even a pup would make a lot of noise.....just glad Moses is older and able to take the jump/fall down into that well.
My devious side is getting the better of me......plotting plans for some strange happening to cause them concern.....No! I'll stop, I really don't believe in revenge............but it would make me feel better momentarily!

I had to work all day and was hoping/dreading when I opened this thread and was so relieved that Moses is safe and sound.
Can't believe your idiotic neighbors. Like Gene, I worry they may get retaliatory.
Big hugs to your whole family. _________________ Meg and Cali

I can't believe your neighbors left him in there! And if the well was "being worked on" wouldn't that lead you to think the pump was defective in the first place? And what WOULD happen if a small child fell in there? I shutter to think!
Thank you GOD!!! |
