I went with the pet insurance that Metropolitan offers because it covers genetic conditions, which was my main concern, that plus cancer coverage.
I already had Tanner neutered and had his first year shots and exams so I didn't get VIP which offers good first year coverage.
My coverage costs me $50 per month and it covers Tanner and my 11 year old cat....
I had Pets Best insurace coverage on my first doodle...they covered a reasonable amount of her medical expenses but were slow to reimburse.
I would suggest it for all new doodle owners.

here's a post i am revisting cause i saw breeders working with each other and sharing along with forum members contributing as well
and like history, certain questions do keep coming up over again...i may be studding Beau but i also need to be aware of health contracts of the dam's side
I am learning both ends of breeding so to speak.
thanks to everyone who helped make this post a good one!!
PS and it also explains why deletions have to happen every so often _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

I just read that large cooperations are offering pet insurance for their employee's. isnt that wonderful....wish my employer would, at a discounted rate doesnt that make sense....I mean its about 5-10% off the normal cost but savings is $avings after all....
Maybee if we all got together and formed a comittee we could sign up a large number of people & get a good discount...
hmmmmmm
We don't have pet insurance but it does sound like a super idea....just to have peace of mind in case the visit to the ER in the middle of the night on a Sunday is in order.... _________________ Martha and Tom

Is your thought that you would offer it to people who adopt your puppies or anyone in general? After our recent incident with Dexter I am strongly considering insurance for them (even though we already belong to Banfield and receive discounts)...so if people who currently own dogs can join in on a group plan we would possibly be interested (depending on price, coverage, etc) _________________ Leslie M |
