Ok.

I am a lurker turned poster.

meaning: I read and read and read and replied in my own head for months before I actually joined and began to post comments....

I was a LONG time lurker on this forum before joining this spring...I had been trying to join since the fall but was just delayed...I had been lurking since the summer....

when I finally did get "turned-on"-------ooooooo-----off and running I AM!!!

I just LOVE this forum: I learn immensely, have regular hearty and healthy laughs, and I get plenty of oohs and aahhs over photos of all the beautiful doodles around here!!!!

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

so.
come forward lurkers.
and join.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Haha, great thread. I lurked for about a month, then joined. Not sure if that is brief or a long time?
Here was my first post:

I have been reading since we got Bella. Great forum with great members! We got our Labradoodle, Bella, at 8 weeks old, she is now 14 weeks old. We got her through a rescue group and did not get much background, except Mom was a lab and Dad was a miniature poodle. The rescue group had the whole litter of 5 puppies.
She has never been real affectionate. The vet after seeing her for 2 minutes said she is an 'alpha dog'. She does not seem to know how to 'lick' and will try to nibble or bite hands. She does not come when called, even after training for a few weeks. She will sit on command (when she wants to Laughing ) She also has these crazy episodes (about once a day when we are playing ball outside) where she will attack me and bite me. I immediately end the playing and have to do the 'leash dance' (hold the leash close to her head to keep her from jumping and biting, but not too close so she can't bite me) to get her inside to calm her down. I then put her in the crate. Very scary and frustrating!
Will she change and become affectionate? Are the attack episodes a 'puppy thing'? Will she outgrow the bite greeting and learn to lick?
We will attend puppy preschool in two weeks.
Any help, comments, words of encouragement are welcome!

No lurking here, found the forum when Lani was about 12 weeks old. I had never raised a puppy before this forum was (is) a God send! I could not have asked for a better community to be part of, as I said a while back wouldn't it br great to have all of you as real neighbors not just cyber neighbors!

Sometimes i am the "all or nothing" type of person but do analzye first.

this time though I joined right away , said HI and then spent numerous hours reading almost every post this forum had to learn more so i wouldn't put up redundant questions.

I know i was soooooooo nervous the first time i said hi and WOW realized this forum was awesome!! EVeryone was friendly, genuine, loving, caring, so informative, and sharing. and then i made a joke one day to GENE and it took off from there.

I did provide a really good laugh down the line for the forum. at 1st i got confused thinking Jac was a guy's name..then said" oh wait Jac is a gal" got that one straight

then GENE has posted some pics and I thought GENE was a woman posting here husband with JONAH hhahhahahaha if you could have seen the shock on my face when GENE PM"d me HE was Jonah's mommie
i alsmost swallowed my tongue with embarrassment then realized
the forum witnessed my 1st major blonde moment hahhahahaa
and now i had to find more since that one was blown. hahhahahhaa

I have had so much support, laughter, friendship, and learning as well as enlightenment on this forum ............not to mention puppy pic fixes!

so i say THANK YOU ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL for making my day brighter !

Googled LABRADOODLES. This site was about the fourth down, saw it had a forum and then lurked for about two months. I had never done anything like this on-line and hesitated, but couldn't resist adding my two cents, esp. when the silliness became apparent. Very Happy

The advice, the pictures, the talent on this site provides daily smiles and has helped this doodle debutant get through some interesting times (still haven't decided if I want to go into detail re: gakking doodle in the back seat on a 95 degree day) Rolling Eyes

Some of you know this already but for the newbies...I googled for websites that dealt with labradoodle owners and breeders after we lost our beloved Hannah a multigen at 5 months. She developed grand mall (sp?) seizures after many months of allergies, parasites and infections. I wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this and I was just heartbroken trying to make sense of what had happened.

By chance I clicked on this forum and I had nothing to lose so I jumped right in and I am still coming back...

I found such wonderful, welcoming friends here and through this forum we were put together with our "Tanner". Tanner was a gift from a fabulous breeder on this forum. Tanner helped us heal and move on from our tragedy and I believe understand what happened to Hannah.

Picked Miss Ebbe up from daycare last Wednesday evening. The temp had gone past one hundred earlier in the afternoon and of course, all the radio disc jockeys were joking about how it had 'cooled down' to 95 by early evening. I was hot and tired and the doodle I picked up from daycare was hot and tired. She slumped in the back seat and was ready to go home!

A quick stop to the dry cleaner (in and out) and Ebbe sat up on the passenger side of the back seat. About a mile and a quarter from the house, I heard the sound that strikes fear in all our hearts ... the one Gene has recently experienced ... the gak - gak - gak of a doodle throwing up ... TWICE!

Now she had been at daycare where she had NOT been fed. And so should have had little in her tummy ... BUT OH NO! I can only surmise by the odor and consistancy that what came out of her had previously come out of another dog!

Gagging myself, I all but ran over little old ladies in my effort to get home. I called Marc telling him to be outside to get the dog the minute we pulled in ... he was and he did and then had to run away from the car before he joined the party.

He took care of Ebbe (who after she was wiped off and had a drink of water headed straight for her supper dish. Confused ) I changed clothing, grabbed cleaning accessories and a dust mask and for the next hour ... in that heat ... cleaned the interior of my car and the door with all it's handy little places to put a map. Shocked Imagine!

The only way I got it done was because of that mask and literally hosed the inside of my car down, scrubbing away with Mr. Clean and Natures Miracle. It worked. No after effects. Except my loss of appitite for the rest of the day and post-event shudders.

Aren't you glad you asked? Wink

Oh ... please don't think badly of my Marc not helping. Two people couldn't have done it ... he stayed on alert if I needed anything to help with the task.

ooph...that must have been awful. I never thought of it, but there is the possibility of a dog eating anothers ................... at daycare. Glad you were able to get your car cleaned up and glad you didn't get a ticket for racing over the LOLs on the way home. Razz Razz
