We went out to dinner with friends this evening, and then took a boat ride afterwards to watch the sunset. They are dog people and have a beloved Springer Spaniel, so they adored Chouette. The wife said she had to have a labradoodle too, and offered to keep Chouette for us when we go to France in the fall. Everyone is so bowled over by how sweet and calm she is, plus the fact that she already sits and lies down and comes so well to voice commands. And of course she's gorgeous. Here she is looking suitably nautical on our trip tonight,
and here she is with us. My friend was using my camera and didn't know how to adjust the focus, but we thought it was a neat photo even though we're blurry. That black shape between us is Chouette...
She's sleeping the sleep of the exhausted as I type.

Thanks, Linda! It's amazing what some blurring does to hide those signs of - er - maturity!
We're lucky to live in such a lovely place, though. When we first moved down here friends thought we were crazy...

I love reading about these dogs making such good impressions on people.
I think we win support and acceptance one person at a time in each positive experience. In time they will be given the widespread respect they deserve because they'll have earned it and proven themselves.
I feel fortunate to be getting into the world of doodles early enough to watch this happen. _________________ www.tinkerdoodle.net

We love our avatar, too. That's Chouette, of course, in our wheelbarrow a week or so ago. She's over 15 lbs now, per the vet. She just got her third series of shots on Monday, but without the Lyme vaccine. Now all she needs is a booster with a rabies shot in August.
She's doing so well! Except for the very occasional excited or submissive piddle she's been good in the house for a few days now, and she's heeling nicely, too. I don't insist for long periods, and if she's been good I let her scamper offleash entirely once we're back in our (long) driveway from getting the morning papers. She's still awfully mouthy, though. If I remind her, she'll lick instead of biting, but you can see that she really wants to use those sharp little teeth!
What a joy she is! And such a happy little thing!
And who is that with Sheba in your avatar, Maureen? Anyone I know? Could be Chouette OR Jasmine.

Thanks!
His name is actually Tinks Holy Moses. He's VERY laid back and just kinda mosies along, so gets called Mosie much of the time.
The first time I saw Moses he was already 29 lbs and he'd just had a drink of water... his beard was absolutely dripping. So when he ran to greet me and drenched me. the first thng out of my mouth was "Holy Moses!"
It stuck, and he's been Moses ever since.
I worked online for several years as an admin/coordinator at a parenting site and had dubbed myself Tinker... as in I tinker in many things, master none. Over time it got shortened to Tink. So that's how he got his strange name. lol
I love how there are so many variations in the looks of the dogs. There just seems to be no shortage of cuteness in any of them! _________________ www.tinkerdoodle.net

Thanks! He's my baby... was my birthday gift to myself last November. LOL My husband had gotten in a nasty habit of not getting me gifts, so I did it for him. Then I told him what "he'd" spent and that he'd really outdone himself this time! Teeheehee
I got very nice gifts for Christmas and Valentines last year, so I guess the point was made.
He's actually apricot but has almost a pink tinge in photos taken out in the sun that I don't see in real life. He really bleaches out on the ends of his hair, so looks darker again when he's clipped. His ears and feet are always a few shades darker than the rest of him though.
This pic is more true to color...
