Oh Linda, don't feel like a jerk! Its ok! Remember the old saying... The road to hell is paved with good intentions... You had the BEST intentions for this dog but if you felt it was wrong, it probably would have been.

Your next doodle is out there somewhere! And I agree - to make someone drive 4 hours and say no... I'd feel wicked awkward too!

Linda, you did the right thing. If you were feeling any hesitation at all, then you made the right choice!

Linda we care about you ....and sometimes you have to go with the flow. I once did the same with a rescue dog here no one wanted after 2mos , she was a labradoodle cross. Something inside me said wait. I did and peaut came along

Linda, you did exactly what you needed to do. More of us ought to learn to follow our gut instinct.

Flash will end up where he needs to be, and if you are to have another doodle, take heart.... it's on the way!

Ditto what everyone else said. I think you deserve major props for doing what you did. You wouldn't be doing ANYONE a service by taking a dog that you weren't 100% ready for. You did the ABSOLUTELY correct and responsible thing.
