Hi,
Has anyone heard anything about Riverbend Labradoodles in Ohio. The breeder's name is Chad Coopshaw.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for breeders in the Ohio, Kentucky or Indiana areas? We are interested in F1 LD.
Thanks! Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome, I haven't heard of this breeder but that doesn't mean they are not good, just do your homework like your doing and you'll be fine.
Ask how long they've been breeding, and why they started
Ask for references and call them
Ask who their Vet is and if you can call them
Ask if they give a health guarantee get at least a 2 year written
Ask if they own both parents some will use another breeders stud which is fine as long as they have been health tested so make sure you ask about health testing on the parents hips, elbows, eyes, Vwd, Thyroid Panel these are some of the test
This is a start I'm sure others will add where I left off! _________________ Linda & Gracielou

I have not heard of this breeder. I went to his website, cute puppies! BUT, they do not mention having done any health testing on their dogs. They mention a guarantee against hips and the health of the puppies but this is not good enough. You make sure the parents are health tested. Anyone can give you a guarantee against a puppy but what is going to happen 6 mos to a year down the road and your puppy ends up with a genetic problem and you contact the breeder and they are no longer breeding or they have moved or they give you 10 reasons why that is not covered under their guarantee. Please spare your family and yourself a lot of money and tears by asking this breeder a lot of questions before you commit.
Good luck _________________ Di & Archie

| My dog Daisy is from this breeder, she is 16 months right now. If you look on the website, she is the one on the main page with the pink bandana. Also on the previous litter page is one of her puppy pictures, she is the one laying in the grass with ball in front of her. She is a great dog, was very easy to train, loves people, I could go on and on. If you have any questions about her or our experiences, I'm more than willing to answer. Where are you located, we are in Cleveland. |

Hi, and welcome!
I don't know this breeder but I have had wonderful experience working with a breeder in UTICA - outside Columbus.
If you are still looking for a breeder contact KRIS:
www.briarcreekkennel.com and I know you won't be sorry!
By the way there are other good breeders in central OH:
Helene, of www.westwoodlabradoodles <?>
and Andrea Brewer.... email me if you want those websites, too, and I'll be glad to send them along.
As for the testing, there's a site that REQUIRES testing in order to be on their listing and they list by state: www.goldendoodle-labradoodle.org
Best wishes! _________________ ~Maureen

| We chose Chad for our Hunter, an apricot cream born 12/27/06. Fantastic dog. Loving, gentle, playful, listens to commands and hunts well. Trained easy. Great personality. The vet kept commenting on his good health. We are getting a second one today, 1/14/07.....what more can I say? |

Thanks to everybody for their responses!
Our senior yellow lab, Buster, age 11, is hanging on quite better than expected. He has diabetes, arthritis, and cushings disease. To hear the vet tell the story, he was seeing his last days when I posted back in November. He is hanging in there like a champ (while going through quite a few pharmaceuticals). Naturally, in his state, a puppy is not the best idea. I've heard so many wonderful things about Riverbend, we are going to keep an eye on his site. Thanks for all the info.
laurabendele - I would love to see pictures of your pups.
Maureen, thanks for the info. I think those breeders focus on mulitgen? Is that right? I think we are focusing more on F1. Couple considerations there are personality, look and $$. |

Betty, that's great news about your Buster! We have a senior (chocolate) Lab, Sugar who's hanging on past our expectations too.
Kris, of www.briarcreekkennel.com breeds f1's, and subsequent generations but her puppies are JUST Lab and Poodle, so she could be another candidate for you to check, if you want to look around other than Riverbend. (She's very reasonable, in addition to testing her dogs) Helene (westood labradoodles) does breed multigens; I just don't remember if she still breeds f1's or not. I could recommend Helene or Rich from a business standpoint, but someone else would have to say so if either are still breeding f1's. _________________ ~Maureen
