Hi, My name is Renee Macchi, we live in NW Washington State. It is gorgeous here, especially in the fall, frosty mornings, crisp sunny days, just beautiful! We own a total of 20 acres, most of which is used to raise the horses, Peruvian Paso's. My Parents started horse breeding farm about 15 years ago and we moved on the property 4 years ago to help them out and continue their dream. Currently we have 3 National Champions and have several prized awards; it is a lot of fun! Sometimes I will look out the front window and see the dogs lying with the horses in the pasture!
We breed Miniature - Small Medium Australian Labradoodles
We are a fairly new breeder, and I have truly enjoyed getting to know everyone.
I have a thirst for knowledge and I absolutely love the Australian Labradoodle!!!
*Our BIO*
I fell in love with the labradoodle about 2 years ago after attending a Doodle Romp. Our lab Roy was depressed after his 2 doggie buddies moved away and so our family decided to find him a new buddy and cheer him up. We stumbled across 'Labradoodles' in the newspaper; we did our research and had to meet one of these dogs in person. We found a Doodle Romp and went and it was love at first sight. Calm but playful, smart but silly, soft and non-shedding!!! I have minor allergies to all animals and thought this is too good to be true, finding a dog that has all these wonderful qualities and does not shed or smell or flair up my allergies.
I was so amazed with this breed and was surprised at how little people knew about them and why everyone didn't have one! So, I decided I needed to become a breeder for the sole purpose of bringing more of these wonderful dogs into the world for everyone to enjoy, do it responsible and ethically of course.
I purchased two females, Hazel and Terra. Hazel was named for her eye color, and Terra was named for the Greek Goddess of Fertility. They quickly learned the routine around here and Roy cheered up and has acted like a puppy every since (he is 6 now...).
We were diligent in our choices for breeding females, we have been involved with breeding horses for several years and to our surprise a lot of the deciding factors are the same when choosing breeding dogs. Both our girls are Miniatures which I believe to be the perfect size! Not too small to rough house with the kids, but not to big to be indoors most of the time.
I have 3 children, Jess (15), Josh (12), & Jacob ( . My husband and I have been married 17 years and met in High School. Sports are a BIG deal in our house! Even my daughter gets in football spirit by wearing a McNabb jersey on Sundays. She is a HUGE Eagles fan. I had to give in and join them and now I watch Sports Center to keep up to date with my team, the Colts. All our kids play in one sport or another and my husband Robert coaches basketball in the evenings for different leagues in our area.
We just had our first litters, both Terra and Hazel came in at the same time and we thought we would breed them both.....wow! I am the primary caretaker for the dogs and right now I am feeding, playing, socializing, and everything else for 15 dogs!!! Even though it is a lot of hard work, I LOVE it. Getting to know each puppy has been a truly wonderful experience.
I plan to breed again, and I am playing with the idea of keeping one girl from Hazel's litter, a true Caramel girl, with an incredible temperament, one of a kind. I just don't know if I am ready to have 3 breeding girls so I may have to make some big decisions shortly. I am also very interested in the breeding dynamics of crossing American lines with Australian lines. I love learning about bloodlines and what they bring as far as temperament and health to the future generations. I love color genetics too!
I also volunteered to be the new editor of
the Australian Labradoodle Club of America in hopes to learn more and network with as many breeders as I can.
I believe this breed is truly wonderful. My goal is to preserve it as much as possible by continuing to educate myself and also to allow every dog lover the opportunity to fall in love them as we all have! I heard a saying when I first got involved and I completely understand it now!!!!
"Everything Else is Just a Dog!"
Best Regards,
Renee Macchi

Good morning Renee, welcome to the forum It's always nice to meet new breeders, even if it is thru the forums. Thanks for the introduction, we just went thru a big intro on another breeders forum and it was so nice to read about everyone, it makes it a little more personal and is almost as good as getting to meet in person. Do you know about the Breeders Round Table in Orlando, Fla. this weekend? I'm looking forward to meeting some new friends and finally getting to put faces with names. It will be a wonderful experience I'm sure I will never forget. I know I will come back with a wealth of knowledge that will only benefit my breeding program _________________ Di & Archie

Yes I heard about it and really wanted to go, but I have little puppies to care for right now. I hope there will be a summary of some kind that is published, I don't want to miss out on some of the topic points in the agenda
