I contacted this woman about the doodle in Oregon and asked her generally where Mulino was...and her was reply was "Mapquest it". I was expecting a polite....'let me know if you want to come see her' kind of a thing. Not the most pleasant interaction thus far....The good news is that Mulino is only about 1 1/2 hours away...Leslie

OOH, They posted a picture... She is WHITE! I don't konw if I can handle to pressure of owning a white dog. Calvin is black and it's impossible to keep HIM clean. She looks like a poodle though, she must be an F1B. (The contact person didn't know what that meant). Leslie

I am always amazed at the reasons a dog makes it into a shelter or rescue.

it got too big
it was too small
I got a boyfriend who didnt like it
my kids decided they wanted yellow
and now
it got sick??!!

geez.... humankind always amazes me. Confused Rolling Eyes

You are not kidding. The best one was, the dog was too mellow and did not play enough with the kids!

Leslie...she is a beauty! With the right doodle cut, she would look less poodly...and she really needs a loving home...imagine if they are that abrupt and rude to you, how they must treat the dogs!
HOpe it works out!!

I also wanted to add here that there are not any doodles that turn up in OR. This is like a one time thing, and I can bet that shelter has been going crazy with calls about the doodle. The shelter then gets upset because they see each dog as a dog, and there is no difference in their eyes. So, the way they see it is a dog sits and waits to find a home while the doodles are getting 20 people that want them. That might give a little insight to the rudeness. I am not making excuse for them, but I have had some tell me this.

Hi Leslie, Mulino looks like Copper. If you got her you would have a pair similar to mine Laughing

Copper is not any harder to keep clean than Jett. He does require more grooming though, so that may be a consideration.

Good Luck!

in a way that makes me feel better as a breeder to know that the dog I have chosen to responsible breed is a sought after dog (and the reason I breed). I dont want to talk bad about other breed dog breeders but if you visit shelters across the country there are breeds that are prevelant in each shelter and they are consistently the same breeds.

I am thinking just the opposite about this shelter...so many shelters (and many other people, unfortunately) see the "designer dog" as a fad which is creating a bunch of unwanted dogs which will eventually end up in the shelters...or worse.
They see the breeders as millers...and although I know that they are dead-wrong about that...and it doesn't excuse their attitude...I think that it does expalin it somehow.
I remember one rescue that had someone writing up the blurb to adopt the dogs and she was downright mean when she described Labradoodles. Why? The only reason I can fathom is that she is one of "them"...ugh! Evil or Very Mad

Oh yes, I have seen some nasty write ups about the doodles, but on the other hand, i have some wonderful ones as well I actually had a few places ask me to remove the listings from the poomix site because they had TOOOO many inquiries and not enough people to answer calls or read through applications. There was one GD in MI that had 200 applications on it.
