Hi -

I'm looking for a labradoodle. We'd like a older puppy to adult dog. Atleast 1 year old. A dog 2 to 5 years would be ideal. Would like it housebroken and socialized. Chocolate and black are favored colors, but not mandatory. Gender not an issue...dog will be altered when we receive it. Will adopt from shelter, home, breeder in Michigan area.

Thanks...

Oh, can anyone explain the F1 and F1B and so forth that I see on some of the breeder information pages? Thanks!

Hello Michelle and welcome Smile Good luck in finding your Labradoodle! An F1 is a first generation Labradoodle which is a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. An F1b is an F1 bred back to a poodle. The f1b is little to no shedding and usually is well suited for someone with allergies. An F1 will shed, some more than others and is not recommended for people with allergies, although some allergy sufferers have gotten along fine with F1's but this is a gamble.

Thank you for explaining that. Is there one that is better if you want a fleece coat versus a wool coat or vice versa? I don't really care what type of coat the doodle we adopt has...but I really think the curly coats are so pretty. Smile

Thanks again!

Hi Michelle, not sure if you are interested in a goldendoodle, but tomorrow we are getting a GD out from death row, and he will be kept at the vet until we can find him a new home. He is about 9 months old, and a real mess right now. He will be neutered on Wed, I believe and get a hair cut. He is the guy named Taz on the poomix site. We had a volunteer check him out, and he is a real doll! She said he looked at her as if to say, you are coming back, right?

Thanks for the plug there Bridget!
BTW, I am the one who updates the listings on the poomix site. You can contact me anytume at shannon@poomixrescue.com.

Hey Shannon....If you ever see a doodle that needs a home in Oregon , let me know. I would like to find a companion for Calvin but am not interested in a puppy and quite frankly cannot afford another one.

Thanks for doing such a good job with these amazing critters...Leslie

If I ever see one is the the truth. I think there has only been maybe 2 in Oregon in the whole time I have been doing this, but don't lose hope. I usually say that and one pops up! LOL

When we decided to get a doodle, we started at the shelters and EVERY one of them laughed at us. They said they rarely if ever get doodles. I just figured that was the way it was all over the country. Leslie

Doodles do not get into a lot of the shelters. I know if you look on poomix there are quite a few, but the locations are spread out all over the place, so even if it looks like a lot, there really are only one here and there, except Michigan. LOL I just heard that someone in BC drove to Idaho to get a doodle. I thought that was quite interesting!

Yes, a goldendoodle would be great too. I'll look up Taz and get his info. I spent all night last night (until 3am) looking at different dogs, rescue sites and so forth and I've seen so many I can't remember who he is but I do remember seeing the name because I thought it was cute.

Thanks so much!

Right now we are in a holding pattern. The shelter let us know that someone is interested in him, and was looking at him today. Today was his day to be put to sleep. So sad.
