Hi to all, I have a question about F1B small doodles as this is my first experience with them. Do F1B's shed their puppy coat and change into an adult coat like the standard labradoodles? If so at what age and how long does this process take?

Thanks for all the great advice! This forum is great. SueG

Hi Sue, I have heard that all dogs blow their puppy coat, but I don't think that my Poodle did. I have never seen him shed at all...so since F1Bs are supposed to have the Poodle qualities in their coat...it makes me think that they don't ... but I don't know. I only have F1 Labradoodles and my F1Bs are not yet old enough to ask their new owners.
When they do, it happens around 7 months to one year.

Hi Jac: Thanks for the reply. Does any one out there have any experience with F1B? I realize they are new. I know my standard doodles blow their coats and look pretty bad till the new one's come in. Any comments?

Thanks, SueG

Our f1b is almost 7 months and has not shed at all. Her coat is longer, lighter and straighter than it was when she was very young. But so far, no "blowing" of the puppy coat.

That is a good question I had my 1st litter last year in December so I will watch mine with my buyers and the one I kept and keep each other informed. Laughing
