FYI it's Cindy's neighbor who's the jerk... not mine!
Great command info... i'll keep it in my back pocket until my doodle arrives!

Thank you so much for your support....I think I will try to overwhelm him with kindness!!! It is so hard...it is in my personality to want people to like me and he so clearly DOESN'T!!! UGH. I am going to train Bailey the best I can and maybe someday he will change his mind!??!!! (or at least keep his negative thoughts to himself)
I love the idea of running and yelling come since she will chase anything that moves right now. I am a little confused about the difference about "come" and having her come to be by my side. Is "come" for just having her come in my general vacinity? She thinks it is just one great big game...she comes over to me and as soon as I reach for her to pet her or put her leash on for a walk, she takes about 8 steps away and thinks this is a great game of "tag!" Truthfully, by the time I do get to her it is hard not to punish her because I get so darn mad at her. Today, my neighbor was out mowing his lawn while this went on and I was so embarrassed. I will definitely be trying the chase idea tomorrow!
Thanks....you are all so helpful!!! I feel so welcome in this "community!" |

On a positive note....Our Jasmine has really sparked an interest in
labradoodles with our vet. We take her to a large Veterinary Hospital
(11 Vets with one ALWAYS on call for emergencies). They know us well,
as they had been treating (and boarding on occasion) our two dogs for the past 14 years. They truly shared our grief when we had to put down our beloved 13-yr-old shar-pei, Beijing, last year and then again when we had to put down her life-long 13-yr-old companion, Beavis, this past September.
Even though my husband had said "No more dogs, I just can't go through this heartbreak again", they were not surprised when I called and made an appointment in October to have our new puppy "checked out". Everyone there was anxious to meet her, as they said they had only had one goldendoodle and one labradoodle as patients thus far, and both were
older rescues. Needless to say, Jasmine was the hit of the office when I brought her in. I was feeling a little anxious about our Vets reaction
however, especially knowing he is very "into" labs. To my surprise,
he couldn't say enough good about her. After a very complete examination of her and the paperwork we brought from the breeder, he
declared her not only adorable but also VERY healthy. He confessed that he didn't know alot about doodles, but also said that the cross of the two breeds makes perfect sense, and after seeing Jasmine he plans to do a little more research. We have had Jasmine back 3 times now and he continues to praise her health, intelligence and temperment.
I think this just goes to show that anyone with an ounce of intelligence
can recognize that the labradoodle is the absolute best of two wonderful
breeds rolled into one beautiful dog! _________________ Edna

My vet adores Bella too, and she is only their second Doodle. Every time I call the receptionist asks about her, they treat her like a little princess and she returns the favor by loving them all to pieces.
Cindy, take your pup over to your neighbor's lawn and leave little gifts. When he complains, explain that you disabled your electric fence just as he suggested... _________________ Doro |

Okay, guys, here is a little ammunition when it comes to dealing with such jerks...this is a long article but it is chock full of good info regarding in-bred "pure" dogs! It has great foundation material.
I figure you could print it off, send it with a Christmas card to this jerk of a neighbor! Okay, so I am over reacting...they do get me riled up!
Anyway, take a look at this, I think you will find some good things to say to the next weirdo who attacks you and your Dood! (Plus he has given permission to copy, reprint and use this material...so I say...we should take him up on it!)

Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum and have been enjoying reading about all of your doods. I have a 10 week old F-1 Labradoodle named Sawyer.
I have a question: What happens when an F-1 is crossed with an F-1?
Just curious. |

You get puppies.
Just kidding!!
I think that you get an F2...but they keep calling the different lines by various titles so I could be wrong.
The LAA has a link explaining the new wave of grading...this might help (or it could make it more unclear!)
http://www.laa.org.au/gradingscheme.htm
So, welcome...we are glad you joined us and hope you post a picture of your little Sawyer! _________________ jacque.bayley.lexie.chase.rosie.nitos.amelia.dupree.madison.sherwood.gerry www.backporchlabradoodles-jacque.blogspot.com www.backporchlabradoodles.com |

Cindy you need to get one of those Labradoodle decals for your car/van off of ebay. Just type in Labradoodle and it will come up. They are so cute and come in whatever color your doodle might be... That would just burn his britches every time he saw it--LOL! _________________ Lee Ann Biesemeyer

Keywee, just for info most breeders won't breed F1 to F1 they just don't have consistent coats most will come back and breed an F1 to a non related Poodle. There are a few who have done it and maybe still are but not the majority. LOve the name Sawyer by the way!!! _________________ Linda & Gracielou

There is a 5th generation Labradoodle named Bhindi in the photo album that looks more "lab-y" than other multi-gen doodles I have seen. He is very handsome and I wonder how they achieved his looks. I wonder if he was not crossed back with an F1.
I think part of what makes labradoodles so unique is that there is such a variety and that there are not arbitrary standards imposed on the breed. |

|
|
Tara and I have found ourselves in the Labradoodle business almost by accident. We are doing the best we can with a litter of 10 but the poodle breeder who said she'd work closely with us is pretty busy. We have many questions.
The breeder is selling the pups for $1450 each. How does that fit into the general price range (Both parents are AKC, but neither is a champion)? -We're in California.
At 7 weeks, the two smallest in the litter weigh about 5 pounds each while most of the rest are in the 10 pound neighborhood. The largest weighs nearly 14 pounds. Is this unusual?
Is it possible to housebreak 10 puppies at one time? We have pretty much trained them to use a tray with pine mulch in their pen and they go outdoors regularly, but we would like to get them ready for home life if we can.
The breeder is talking about mating one of the litter with a F1 goldendoodle. What will she get and is it a good idea?
Should we construct a shed for raising future litters or are they better off living with us in the house so that they can be socialized more?
Thank you.

Hi and welcome!
I am in California too (Willits)!
I would love to answer your questions, but I am running low on time today (imagine that! )
You have good questions and I think I can help with some information. If you would like to send a private message to me, I'll try to answer your quesitons as best I can.
There is so much to know, and to learn...I relied on breeders who were willing to share...so I'll be happy to help if I can. (I do a lot of research, have lots of good links.) _________________ jacque.bayley.lexie.chase.rosie.nitos.amelia.dupree.madison.sherwood.gerry www.backporchlabradoodles-jacque.blogspot.com www.backporchlabradoodles.com |

Keywee mentioned seeing Bhindi in one of the galleries looking more 'laby'. That's mainly down to being clipped. We live in the country and one of the (very few) downsides of a 'non-shedding' dog is that they pick up a lot of dirt outside. Like velcro!!
You can see some more piccies of her at http://www.doodlicious.com
