I know that some of you breed your purebreds bothways....AKC & then hybrid.
AKC requires that "if a sire has sired 7 or more litters in his lifetime or more than 3 litters in the calander year, an AKC DNA profile must be on file."
Would the DNA profile from PawstiveID work or does the DNA need to be collected from a Vet, & what does he do, to verify the stud???? _________________ Judi,Tuesday& Marley(and little Reba too!)

wouldn't that be a question for AKC?
Who does AKC like for their dna profiles? I think PID is fairly new so I am just wondering who they use, that's all. _________________ ~Maureen

My girlfriend was going to get her stud DNA'd & I knew she had done the PawsitiveID thingy..... She DID email AKC but no one has returned her email (its been 2 days)
I just got done poking around their site and it seems that you purchase the DNA kit from them (cheek swab).
Perhaps they require you to get it from THEM ONLY? I see no reason that pawsiteID wouldn't be the same thing!!?? _________________ Judi,Tuesday& Marley(and little Reba too!)

| DNA is DNA, so there is really no reason not to accept PID....except if you get the kit from them they get $$$ from you. |

Okay...finally a response from AKC. Just for the record....
AKC told her-
"The lab we use is MMI Genetics and the testing is for parentage verification and identification. Different labs test different gene markers for different reasons so testing from another lab would not be compatible and we cannot accept it."
So.... PawsitiveID DNA profile is not acceptible by them. _________________ Judi,Tuesday& Marley(and little Reba too!)

AKC charges $30 for their DNA test and ALL it tests is parentage... considering what you get from PasitiveID for $20 more, I view it as just another way for AKC to rip people off.
