Jonah is just getting over his ear infection. We have 3 more days on the drops. Sunday and Monday his "happiness indicator" (tail) was finally waving proud. Tuesday was fine also, we went on a mini road trip to PA on an errand. Then yesterday, tail back down, and super crabby. He's great with me, but every time Mikor and Rumor start playing in the house, he gives them about 10 minutes, then he starts growling, jumps up, barks, then stands between them. Then he comes back and lays by me again. He did this once last night and twice this morning so far. He's eating and going fine, just seems like he doesn't quite feel well. Maybe it's his allergies? That's what caused the ear problem. I'm going to try benadryl later and if he's still acting like this, I guess it's back to the vets tomorrow.

Any advice, experience??? I hate to see him acting sad....those big brown eyes that tear my heart.....now that I can see them all the time.....right Annmarie??

I think Dexter's having ear issues too. I cleaned them out with alcohol about a week ago, and I think I may have shoved some icky stuff down in there with my cleaning. Since then, he is a little off his feed. He'll eat, but it takes hours of telling him to go eat, and him sniffing with disinterest. And he barfed once. And he ran a slight fever one night. His ears and nose were a little warm, but not alarming. He's playing and acting like his old self, but with the food issues. Bathroom habits are fine. It's time for his yearly shots, so I'm going to have the vet look at his ears. I did pull about 6 ticks off him and he seemed to feel better after that. It was after Kevin went out mushrooming and I wasn't home to do a tick inspection. So I guess I'll be getting some frontline too.

Sorry to hear that Jonah is not his usual happy self. On the other hand, it is great that you are intune with the big guy to notice. Hope you can find and answer and his tail is back up soon.

Jonah, sorry you arent feeling well.

Gene, it could be allergies, but like you I'd be back at the Vet to be sure. I dont know what Jonah is allergic to, but my outdoor allergies have been super wicked this year and seems like everyone I talk to around here who has allergies they are bad and even people not normally bothered are having problems, appears to be a very bad year for outdoor allergies

hope the benadryl works for Jonah !

Gene,

I wonder if he is objecting to the noise because his ears are more sensitive with the infection. He clearly is speaking his mind, as luckily they do. That's the best way for them to tell us something isn't right.

I'm sure you'll do the right thing for him, and we send along our best wishes from sunny California for a speedy recovery for Jonah.

Bob....maybe it was the singing that caused the problem......

We have a vet appt at 3:30 tomorrow. I'm holding off doing anything til then.

He wagged his tail for me when I got home today, but it's still not flying high as it should.
