Max is 8 months now,and well find out tommorrow but has skin sores or rashes, which are making him very itchy, biting himself raw.
He has a cone, and its driving him nuts.
My question,to all the doodlers is that are theyre other owners of doodles finding skin problems or allergies to be an health issue for the breed.
Max is F1.Thanks.
I shaved his back, cleaned the sores, peroxcide, and antibiotic creams to help,to no avail.Vet is now becoming involved.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Sorry you are having trouble. Its not a breed thing, both my F1s have never had an issue, except dry elbow from laying on hard floors. Thats a dog thing.

My first thought for this goes to food allergies. What are you feeding Max? It could be the problem.

Cinnamon had a terrible case of the itchies, but with food changes she's calmed down a lot. she didn't scratch herself raw though. We went to a grain free diet. We also found that pork skins & pig's ears cause her to itch. We've also changed shampoos (again!). The anti-itch shampoos caused a reaction - itching! We're bathing her with baby shampoo now. So far so good.

The only thing that comes to mind is a flea allergy. Even if your doodle does not have fleas, there are fleas outside and if one bits them, it can be horrible for the dog. Look up dogs and flea allergies. Some of the pictures are awful. I would definitely get the vets opinion. Allergies in different areas of the body are indicative of what the source is. Food allergies normally have something to do with the belly, and the paws. Other allergies are on the body, and legs.

Poor Max! I hope you find a solution to make him comfortable.

We're in the process of trying to figure out if Cali has allergies. Took her to the vet a couple of weeks ago with itchy ears assuming she had a yeast infection. Nope. Vet said her ears were the cleanest, driest he'd seen in awhile. While her body temperature is normal, her ear flaps are warm to the touch. In vet's experience, Cali is about at the age when allergies develop (19 mo.s). We're trying an antihistamine. She's already on Canidae and mostly gets grain-free treats (one's that have sweet potato and fish). My husband sneaks in a few traditional milkbone treats. She scratches her ears and rubs her head along the back of the couch after eating. She also rubs her eyes in the morning too. With my surgery, we've missed a couple of the doses of antihistamine, so we're not sure if it's helping or not. At this point I can't determine if she has food or environmental allergies. Stay tuned.

I really feel for you and Max but there may be an allergen source of either :pest or food related.

keep us posted and sure hope this issue clears up soon with good solutions and why it's happening
