Sadie is on Sentinel which is for heartworm prevention AND fleas, right?
So does she HAVE to be on something else for fleas/ticks...JUST ticks?
We don't live in a wooded area. We don't go for walks in the woods. What if she's not on anything but the Sentinal?
What about natural sprays instead of Frontline, etc. I've heard that these are pretty harsh chemicals AND they can't get wet for a whole month? So, no grooming after application?
I'm so confused about what she needs that I'm just doing nothing right now.
What do you use and why? Please help a first time dog owner _________________ ~Julie~ Mom to three kids and two furbabies!

Hi Julie,
Although I can't help you with your questions about Sentinel or natural sprays I can tell you what I know about Frontline (what we use). The medication is in an oil-based form and applied to the skin at the back of the neck. The medicine is absorbed into the skin within the first 24-48hrs so you can bathe and get your dog wet after that time period. also...it has been tested to be safe in puppies. |

Sentinel controls fleas, heartworms (and a variety of other worms), but not ticks. You should probably check with your vet to see if ticks are common in your area and if you should be using a product to prevent them. _________________ Sandy

we use advantix on all the dogs..
but, we spend alot of time at the dog park where
the dog s mingle pretty freely with all the dogs..
we don t know the living and recreational habit s of
their owners so we use a mild flea and tick spray on the
dog s once a week..
and we spend a couple weeks up at yosemite each yr.
so it s good to spray at those times esspecially.. |
