We are now to the point where Tanner and our cat Humphrey sleep in the same room all day while we are at work. Tanner takes the couch and Humphrey take DH's chair.
At night the cat is on sleeps on our bed, Tanner sleeps on his bed in our bedroom...sometimes they both end up on our bed.
In the beginning we made sure the cat had a perch to get away from Tanner on and we cut a whole in a gate to the basement so cat could have litter box and food where Tanner wouldn't get it.
Tanner has always liked the cat and wanted him to be a playmate. The cat however, wasn't to found of Tanner's puppy nibbles _________________ AnnieG & Tanner

I have two cats. LN is 12 years old and Keegan is 10 months.
Remy has been with us three weeks now and the cats are adjusting nicely. LN makes it known that she is not going to play. They have sniffed noses but she heads for higher ground most of the time.
Keegan and Remy play quite a bit. Remy will chase Ln and then she will chase him back. LN brings Remy her toys to play with and Remy tries to eat them. Sometimes they will play together with a ball or other round toy.
At first I gated off the bedroom and Remy only went in at night to sleep in his crate. This provided the cats with an escape route.
I have removed the gate now as the cats have defined their space and Remy is accepting. I still remind Remy to "leave it" when he starts to bug LN. Keegan can tell him to quit in her own way.

Sue, how did you end up with 9 cats? That is a handful.
Denver sounds like a really great dog. I think its neat that he is so protective of them.
Taryn L teehee
You maybe sorry you asked the question as this is gonna be a book..............
The reason I have nine cats in a sort of nutshell is this
My original cat had to be put down at age 21 and I was devasted
Denver was not in the picture at this time.
3 weeks later someone left a box of black kittens(5) on the side
of a street right in front of my previous vet. The 5 kittens were only 4
weeks old and way too young to be taken from their Mom
i was told of the story and went to see them......
Took home two(Blue and Teal) and bottle fed them.
Blue is the alpha male and such a sweetheart, he adores Denver
Teal is my still missing baby
1 year later one of these(Teal) went missing(longer story) and 2 weeks later I found
a cat that could have been my missing cat(it was not and I have never found her ) under a house
dying of starvation, she weighed under 2 lbs and the vet said take her home
if you want but she will not make it. 8 years, later Her name is Jade and she is the alpha
female who baits Denver every chance she gets.
After that a cat society that I know found a litter of feral kittens(4) and could not find homes for
3 of them. I took two and one week later hubby said you cannot leave their brother so we
went and got him. These 3 are
Sky, Shade and Ty. Next i read a story about an abused cat kicked in the head a few times.....
broke my heart so I went and got her, we named her Shayle and she is Denver's favorite, then came Rain
who was found in someones's back yard with most of her ear ripped off , they could not afford to fix her up
so they were going to put her down.........I paid for the surgery(and no I am not rich) $800.00 having never met her yet
and went and got her, she is adorable and will kiss Denver and then smack him. Last came Storm who was also abused
and had been returned to the society twice before because she hisses and growls all the time and does not like
closeness with people, she is still the same but in this house we do not need her to be a lap cat, but she is still entitled to a good safe life.
The ninth cat Asia is my daughters and we all decided to buy this house together so that is why I include Asia in the count of nine.
I have always wanted a dog but hubby and daughter were not on board,
but they knew what it meant to me so they said go ahead(I would have gotten him anyway tehee) and that
is how Denver came to live with us and nine cats.
I still get people calling me about abused cats all the time but I finally have learned to say no and have realized that I cannot save them all. _________________ Sue & Denver
