No I agree...trying Zymox is def easier than changing food But if that doesn't work, it's something else to consider.
That's funny about the vet...ours suggested allergies first thing. Sometimes I wonder if he's a little too gung-ho about thinking allergies are the culprit...I know one of his own dogs has food allergies so I think he thinks allergy first. _________________ Leslie M |

I would try a different food as well,, Lamb and brown rice is good,
like maybe Natural balance they have a duck and potatoe especially made for allergy issues, if it is allergies, i know at this point you are ready for this to end, i would for sure try another food, just in case
as well as using zymox as it directs (7day treatment, btw( _________________ Nancy at Doodlesville(Virginia)

We've dealt with this for so long that I'm just going to try the Zymox and see if that takes care of it. If I change two variables at once I won't know which made the difference. Also I'm not sure where I'd find the more exotic brands of dog food. The feed store has Canidae and I don't know whether Petsmart, the only other game in town, would have duck and sweet potato.
The Zymox should be here tomorrow or the next day and I'll report back. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Normally petsmart doesnt have the high quality food
independantly run Petstores in your area would most likly carry it
its Dick Van Pattens Natural Balance
what ever food you choose to feed
the first 5ingredants need to be high quality, lamb brown rice, ect
NO glutens general rule of thumb
and NO chicken by products, or by products of any kind
if there are words you have no idea what they are look at something else
I have been looking into Dynamite dog food,,thats awsome,,just more then i can afford for the number of dogs i have
if you can get Verus Food, its doing well for me , as well
its made in Maryland and its hard to find, although on their site they have a store locator _________________ Nancy at Doodlesville(Virginia)

Leslie,
I order the Canidae from Pet Food Direct. They carry Natural Balance. It is easy to order and they deliver to your door via UPS. Since they are close by in PA, shipping for us is not bad. I also get coupons and just received their best one for 22% off. It ends today at midnight. It might be worth trying them even if you don't switch foods.

The Zymox actually seems to have worked! I've been using it once a day since it arrived on Friday the second and her ears smell good and she's stopped shaking her head. The non-shaking could be a result of the 1% hydrocortisone included with the other ingredients, but I doubt if it's just that.
I wonder whether I should continue for one more week just to be sure, or stop now, since it's been seven days.....
It's so nice to see her feeling comfortable again! Thanks, guys!
