You might want to think of guardianship if cost is an issue. I believe it works out beautifully for some.

Hi Bobby, as we have mentioned in this and many other posts, you will be able to find more inexpensive Labradoodles...just like you can buy a Saturn or a Lexus for your next car. Just understand that you will likely be getting a dog of questionable health...the way I look at it, you can pay $1500-$2000 for a dog from a quality breeder who will give you a warranty to pay for any possible genetic faults that might crop up or you can get a dog from a puppy mill or back yard breeder and take your chances on health.
(By the way, how much would you pay for a great video game? And...that is only a game...I have heard of some being sold for thousands of dollars...just a little reality check.)
If you win, and get a great, healthy dog, congratulations! That would be a boon!
But, if you gamble and lose, not only will YOU pay much more than the $2000 for the dog (when you factor in your vet bills and treatments...not to mention euthanasia), but you may also sentence your pup and any other pups produced by that "breeder" (I use the term loosly) to a shortened lifespan or a painful existance.
So, because reputable breeders actually care about the long term health and lives of their puppies, they do everything they know of to prevent breeding genetic faults that may alter the enjoyment of their pup's lives.
Other breeders don't care and make a pretty good living from selling a pup for a few hundred dollars. There are many of these "breeders" out there. You can probably find one in your classified ads or in the parking lot of your local grocery store.

Jac & Maureen,
Love it when you add your 2 cents worth on important topics like this.
People are searching and educating themselves daily on the Labradoodle Breed. They are gaining in popularity every day.
If anyone searching for a labrdoodle & has just stumbled on to this site please Heed Jac & Maureens posts. They are very wise & have a solid knowledge on Moral & Ethical Breeding standards, and others who contribute.
Pay attention do your homework and you will find yourselves with a healthy Labradoodle.
Do not run out to your local pet store and purchase a Labradoodle from them.
We did it because it was an impulse desicion that left us devastated.
We had a large litter in January. So many phone calls we recieved from people looking for that "MINI" size.
I direct all of those people to this forum. We always tell them to start their inquiry here because of all the enthusiasm for Labradoodles on this site.
This is a Gold Mine for people starting out with questions about the ever so loving Labradoodle.

thanks for the support, Martha!!!

Miniatures are harder to get. And easier to lose a whole litter to a failed breeding, unfortunately! I'm very blessed to have Miniature Puppies, this time, but nothing and nobody could repay the lab and vet fees we paid last time, for NO PUPPIES. It's just part of the risk we agreed to take when we bred our girl Copper for the hope of happy healthy puppies:

I don't mean to complain; as a stay at home mom with kids, homeschool dogs and breeding plans, I understand the crunches a budget can have! So I have priced our puppies as low as I can justify given my work, training, effort and my own costs, yet thinking of what I would want, if I were trying to find a Miniature Puppy.

And these puppies make it all feel VERY worthwhile! Very Happy
