oh no - I'm sorry you need surgery Sad It's amazing a slip down the stairs can cause such trouble...good luck tomorrow and I hope you feel better soon.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Diane
Ouch hope you recover very quickly...................
I once broke my leg in three places(I was 13)
I had fallen off the back of a toboggon...........
My Mom kept giving me sleeping pills the first night
and told me to quit being such a baby
Boy did she feel awful when they took me to the hospitol the next day
The doctor gave her a very bad time................I milked it for years
after that , any time I got hurt she rushed me to the doctors............

Oh, MY!! Shocked
I am so sorry to hear the fall caused such a horrible injury!
Just be sure to do exactly like they tell you after surgery
and you'll heal up fairly quickly I think.
You might need the vicodan for awhile at first...
but 2 months isn't too bad!! Gather things you can do with your leg elevated.....put them within reach of your "station" and have a spot for Dakota right next to you.

Hang in there....I'll pray that all goes perfectly!
Smile

Oh my, you really did mess yourself up! For what it's worth, I'm full of hardware (well, had some removed at one point) but it's not as bad as it sounds...and the xrays are way cool afterwards!

Definitely invest in a good leg wrap for bathing/showers. If you will be in a cast for 2 months, it's not worth buying the cheap one. I had one that was wonderful after my ankle reconstruction...you could submerge it for up to 2 hours, so it was possible to go in a pool even. I can't tell you how many people have borrowed it over the years and it is still in good form, sitting in my closet waiting for my next injury. Rolling Eyes (I've had 6 knee surgeries, 2 shoulder, 1 ankle, 1 elbow plus a bunch of breaks...and I need wrist surgery Embarassed )

Laughing Laughing Laughing Thanks everybody! I'll be fine! My surgeon said the odds of a problem in surgery are about the same as the odds that you can sever both of your ankel bones while walking downstairs--he said it's got to be impossible to hit both of those odds in a lifetime, let alone in a week!!! Rolling Eyes Wink I'm more worried about Dakota getting his daily exercise but the weather's great and as long as I can hobble out back, he can have his pool 'work outs' and he'll love that!

Hope recovery is fast and pain free (ok, drugs might help in that aspect!).

Cinnamon would love to have the pool workout! She says Dakota is one lucky dood!

Diane!

Just got here and read the news ... Augh! I hope right now you have a nice post-surgical buzz and are well on your way to July and recovery! Knowing you ... you'll find some creative, productive way to get through the next two months.

Darling Dakota ... take good care of Mama! Be good, and give her lots of licks.

Good thoughts and wishes from Cincinnati!
