We got to the lake house Thursday afternoon for a long weekend. We lost 4 big trees due to storms at our Sacramento house Crying or Very sad and had to haul the wood to the lake along with a thousand other things--where does it all come from?? We were at the lake no more than an hour when I happily began trotting down the stairs from our bedroom. I clipped my heel on the edge od one of the top steps and Shocked Shocked Shocked excrutiating pain!!! Tried to go to emergency the next day but there is only one emergency hospital in Susanville and it would have taken hours to see me. So I have been couch-bound with ice on my ankle which I am hoping is badly sprained but am afraid it is broken! Rolling Eyes Laying on the couch is NOT the life for me and poor Dakota! He can't understand why I won't have the usual lake fun with him; he won't go with Daddy and just lays on the couch next to me waiting . . . and waiting. We go home tomorrow. I've already notified my regular Dr and they will do whatever necessary to get me in. But I'm thinking I'm housebound so you'll probably be hearing a lot from me soon!!

I'm so sorry. I hope you get in quickly and they discover it's just a bad sprain instead of a break. (Although from personal experience of multiple breaks and sprains...a break is sometimes less painful.)

Hang in there.

Don't put it off too long. You don't want it to heal wrong if it is broken.

Hope you're up and around before too long!

Always good to hear from you Diane, but not under these circumstances! Take care of yourself, and although it's hopefully a sprain, remember those can take some time to get over too (long, sad voice of experience here from uncountable crazy tennis injuries!). Let Nurse Dakota take care of you and stay off that ankle!

Hope you are better soon. This may be a time that the "fetch" command will come in handy...

I 'sheared' both my tibula (shin bone) and fibrula (sp?). The dr's could not believe that I was able to withstand the pain and kept telling my husband what a tough cookie I was! NOT!!! I am a whimp--must have been all the Vicadin my friends kept giving me!! Shocked Anyway, surgery tomorrow to 'install' a steel plate and screws. Shocked Shocked Poor Dakota! I won't even be able to put any weight on my foot for 2 months. Crying or Very sad Well, we'll just have to figure something out . . .

Diane.......WOW....you are a trooper! Prayers going your way for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. Remember, don't lick the incision or Dakota will have to make you wear a cone...... Wink Laughing
