So Boo and I are going to his first doodle romp today, and I'm worried. I used to be excited about the romp, but Boo has been getting into a lot of trouble these last few days at the dog park. Yesterday was the worst- he chased a toy poodle out of the dog park (which isn't fenced, but enclosed by hills) and across the surrounding park. I knew he wouldn't hurt the poodle because we've taught him to be gentle to little dogs, but it was still NOT ACCEPTABLE. Just when we thought the training and all our hard work was finally starting to pay off. |

The great thing about a doodle romp is the all/most of the dogs are the same size. I'm sure she won't be the most assertive one there. They are so much fun, enjoy! _________________ ~Julie~ Mom to three kids and two furbabies!

Boo will be fine, you'll see! At the romps I've been to, the doods spend a good deal of their time chasing each other. It is a neat experience. They seem to know their own kind. Most importantly, next to the camera , is HAVE FUN! It is going to be beautiful weather so relax and enjoy the day with all the doodles and their people. _________________ Vicky (Jett and Copper) |

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement! I read them before we left and felt more optimistic.
And...Boo was good! Phew, I’m so relieved! He was kinda bored because none of the other doodles wanted to wrestle and play rough, but he behaved himself. There were actually a lot of shy/timid doodles, so I had to re-direct him a lot, but he accepted it. I could tell that he was trying hard to be a good boy, so I’m very proud of him. Afterwards he got a new toy as a reward!

Yeah, we’re probably going to avoid that one until his recall gets better. Its sad because we’ve been going there every day for months, and all of his buddies are there. But now that the weather's getting nice there are new dogs coming to the park every day, and Boo's obedience isn't holding up. So for now I think we’ll need to find a fenced dog park, and some new places to go for walks. |
