Hi all. I am new here and have been reading up on all of the posts trying to learn as much as possible before my new "child" arrives. I currently have an 8 yr old chocolate lab who is almost human. I have recently decided to add a black F1B labradoodle to our family. She will be ready June 13th and I just can't wait!
Does anyone have any suggestions on introducing them? Chase (my lab) is very sensitive and I am so afraid his feelings will be hurt by the new addition.
Thanks all and I look forward to posting my own doodle pics soon! |

Welcome Turtleaut! You have found a great resource. Our 1st doodle was only 6 months old when we got our 2nd. She thought we got her a toy to play with! So we had no trouble. I know that others on the forum will be able to give you great ideas. Can't wait to see photos of your new baby! Congratulations! _________________ Lisa, Lani and Toby

Hi Turtleaut! Welcome to the forum!!!!! It's a great place for all kinds of questions and concerns!
We also have a 4 yr.old chocolate labbie...Molly...and when we brought Raleigh home last November at 8 weeks old, she loved him! Now that he towers over her, and is constantly 'at' her, I'm not so sure just how much she loves him anymore!!!! hahahahahahaa...but they do get along fine, and snuggle with each other from time to time...
You really shouldn't have any problems.. Good luck!

Max was only 7mos old when we brought hom Peanut. I think he thought she wasa new squeaker toy for the first 2 weeks hahahhahaa
anyway, your older dog should sense your doodle-to-be is a puppy and will show much patience. I did find that we had "separate" time meaning someone would take peanut for awhile and then i'd be with Max lavishing attention on him and playing fetch etc too _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

I second Annmarie's squeaker toy comment. Jonah was 9mo when I got rescued Miko (5mo) at the time. I had no problems, but he was still a puppy himself...still is at 14 months today! _________________ gene , jonah , miko and rumor
