Hi all,
I am in the Dallas area and was wondering whether anyone knows about any Labradoodle breeders around here. I would like to see the puppies in person before I get them and also would like to pick them up rather than have it shipped to me. So, something within 2 hrs of driving distance would be perfect.

I know that Labradoodles can be expensive and although I am totally committed to getting one, I dont think I am in a position to spend 1000 bucks for them.(Still trying to pay off my tuition loans Sad. So, I was excited when I saw a posting of someone selling F-1 B puppies for 350 $ in a local ad. Can anyone please advise on what I should be looking for when I visit the breeder and what all questions I should be asking for.
I saw the pictures and they all look really cute.

I just placed a puppy to the most wonderful young lady in Denton. She has such a love for these dogs. She just emailed me to tell me about a local person (In pottstown I believe) who had an ad in the paper. I wonder if it is the same one. Here this is what she wrote.

Hey Speaking of people just throwing together anything to get a labradoodle. I saw an ad in the Dallas paper for Labradoodles in Pottsboro.. Its about 45 minutes from me.. So I called just out of curiosity... I felt that i know more than this womon, She doesn't do any testing! She is selling her F1b's for 200.00 to get rid of the last three, she did say that she was selling her other ones previously for 650.00? She also has an AKC white standard male for $110.00 OBO???? Who knows if its true.. I told her I would like to come and see them, She also has F1s, cockers, poodles and I think something else.. I am going more so to see if it's a neglect issue, then I can report her to the humane society!! I can't stand ignorant people!! Maybe, Hopefully, she does take care of her animals

anyway my thought here is to introduce you to my puppy parent if you like and you can see her pup (I have none to sell at this time so please do not think that is my motive Smile) she can share with you her experience and everything she knows such as the importance of testing and guarantees and such and she is local to you!

Let me know if you would like the introduction Smile

Yes..It is the same ad..Vow!!! I am so glad that I wrote to this group. Could you please introduce me to this friend of yours in Denton.
This is going to be my first pet and I want to make sure I have all the right information and do not fall into any trap. If she is planning to go there anyways maybe both of us can go there together..That way I will have an expert with me. Thanks a lot for your response..

Hi, I'm the girl in Denton, TX that has a beautiful Labradoodle Very Happy . Depending on the "weather" (Never can tell in Texas) I am planning on going up to see the Labradoodles in Pottsboro with my mom sometime Saturday. Let me know if you ever want to see my angel to get an idea of what a good quality Labradoodle looks and acts like. I don't know about expert but, If I don't know it my breeder probably will. Very Happy

Doodlemania, I am so glad that you posted!
The most sad thing for me to see, on this forum, is when someone believes that they are getting a great deal on a Labradoodle! Sometimes they do, but more often than not, they are getting a product from a puppy mill, back yard breeder or pet store...and they all come with huge risks.
When you buy from them, you probably pay much less for your dog...but when your dog gets sick, and he probably will, you can count on making up for the difference in vet bills. Besides, you will probably have potty training problems and temperament problems...meaning bite liability down the road...too many risk factors for my comfort.
That is not to say that good breeders can't produce puppies with problems, but what they will do is to warranty their puppy and if it does get sick, the money is refunded to you. And, they will work with you to find trainers and health care and such.
So, dealing with nature is a gamble any way you look at it...but your odds are much better if you buy from a breeder who does health testing and offers warranties...among other things...
Texas, unfortunately, is famous for puppy mills...so you have to be very, very careful.
I wish you all the best...because if you get a healthy and well-bred Labradoodle, chances are that you will be very, very pleased with your new family member.

One more thing...when you visit these places, please wear disposable shoes! No kidding! If they have Parvo going on ... you will track it into your car, and to every place you go...and could infect the puppies you visit...which is why many breeders won't let people "puppy shop"...
Please use caution...the life and health of sweet puppies are at stake.

Hi - We got our Cody in Tyler,TX which is two hours from Dallas. If you look in the previous litters section of her website you'll see a photo of Cody and our two boys. If you have any questions you can send me an email message. I think her F1 doodles are $800 right now. Cody came up to date on shots and de-wormed. He was microchipped and very very healthy. His temperment is great. Check them out! http://mudcreeklabradoodles.com/index.htm

Thanks all for your responses and suggestions. Yeah, I have heard that one should be suspicious when you see a labradoodle offered for such a less price. But then from the pictures that I saw in the posting they looked cute. After all, all puppies are cute anyways.
I am not a pro when it comes to puppies/dogs so dont know how much of an assessment I can make even if I see them in person. But I was thinking that I could atleast know the surroundings they are brought up in and possibly meet their parents .
Anyways, I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that my visit turns out to be a good one. I will let you all know what I think once I meet them.

Yes - give Mandy a call or email her. She's good about getting back to people. Tell her I sent you. I forgot to mention that they do the proper hip testing as well. We just love Cody - great doodle.
