I have had my Labradoodle for 2 yrs. now. I rescued him from a local shelter. When I first got him he only weighed 27lbs at 11 mos. old. I am happy to say that he is in tip top shape today. I had no idea at the time of adoption that he was a Labradoodle. I didn't even know what one was until I stumbled upon this site and you guys confirmed it after seeing pics. Since then, I have confirmed with the vet and several other doodle owners that in fact he is an F1 labradoodle. You guys were right!!! Thank you for that! I do have a couple questions though. Why did the hair on his face turn to a bleached out red color (he is black)? Is it from the chlorine in his drinking water? Why is his beard so long? I have looked at other doodle pics and most have a shorter beard? Why does he have these white hairs cropping up everywhere? Is it normal for all doodles to LOVE fruit (even over steak)? Why does he only weigh 55lbs at almost 3yrs old? Could it be because he was so sick with giardia (spelling?), kennel cough, and just overall extremely sick? Almost on his death bed for the better part of his growing months (the first 11)? Could that stunt his growth or is he a smaller version than most. Don't get me wrong, he is a lug but most owners say that their doodle is at least 70lb full grown. Why is his top coat so coarse and when shaved the bottom coat is as straight and soft as a lab? Thank you in advance!

hello everyone! i would love to get your opinions and feedback. we adopted roxy from the pound in January at 4 months. her kennel card said "lab mix", but as she started growing, she started getting furrier. :) i've looked at tons of pics and to me, she does remind me of a labradoodle. i would love your feedback and opinions on what you think!

I am curious! Milo is a very calm, peaceful puppy, gets excited when playing etc, but by and large fairly mellow. However, everyone I mention this too, says, "Oh, that won't last. Labradoodles are spazzes and once he has finished putting all his energy into growing, he will also become a hyper dog. There is no such thing as a mellow labradoodle."
Is there any truth to the claim that puppies are mellower than their adult selves? Seems counter intuitive to me, I thought dogs mellow as they age. Is puppy temperament not a good predictor of adult personality? And last, what's with everyone saying Labradoodles are not mellow dogs. All the doodle owners I have met say their dog is easy going and super friendly.
Would love to hear your opinions on this!

Morning crunch time advice!!

Milo (aka the adorable, possibly the best pup in the world) is a sweetheart. He sleepily gets into his crate around 10 pm, and will stay asleep till about 6 am, give or take half an hour. Which I am told is not bad at all for a 11 week old.
However, I need help figuring out the morning crunch. When he barks that he is awake, it's a mad dash out to pee. Then he gets his kibble, and I take him for a 30 minute walk. Back again to poop in the backyard, and finally about an hour later he will let me pen him.
Meanwhile, I have kids to wake up, oatmeal to make, (haven't even had any coffee yet!) How do you all manage this? I tried keeping him with me in the kitchen, and he pooped in there. He won't soil his crate or pen, but he doesn't get that the other parts of the house are inside too. I tried keeping him out in the backyard, which is safe, and he barks till I join him. I tried putting his kibble in a wobbly toy, but he gets so excited he barks at it, and my neighbors sure won't appreciate the canine alarm clock at 6 am.
Any advice on how I can buy myself about 40 minutes between letting him out to pee, and having my kids up and at breakfast?
