Holly was spayed on Monday (yes, I was a nervous, lonely wreck!! ) She had to stay overnight, I picked her up the next day, and she is fine, thank goodness. I just had a few questions: is it normal that she pees and poops more often than usual? She hasn't had any accidents in the house, but it seems like she needs to go more often and goes a smaller amount, more frequently. Also, it seemed like it hurt a little when she had to go poop. Is this normal after surgery?
Also, our vet said she had to stay indoors for a week, except for pottying. Holly is about to tear the house apart with boredom and pent-up energy...I have cheated and taken her for a couple quickie 10 minute walks on leash. Is this OK? Holly does not appear to be affected by the surgery at all, she is eating fine and full of energy. |

Our vet said calm leashed walks were fine even 1 day post neuter...I don't know if the spay recovery is worse. I would call your vet to ask about walks...my thinking is...if she's nut in the house, isn't it possible she could hurt herself more than on a calm walk? _________________ Leslie M |

Maya was supposed to stay quiet for 10 days. Not so much. The night she came home she was Tigger and bouncing off the walls. I cried that night cause she wouldn't settle down. I was so scared she would hurt herself. The next day I went to Petsmart and got a whole bunch of bones and things she could chew. That kept her at least somewhat quiet for 5 days. After that I gave up!!!
As far as going potty more....Maya did but that is b/c bones and such give her the runs. I'd call your vet and see what they say. _________________ Heather, Morgan, Maya, and Sadie
