He did play a while with Miko and Rumor tonight....but is still a little crabby. He's snapped at Rumor a couple of times and laid down in Rumor's "spot" in the dining room. We'll see how he is in the morning....
Yes it is more Jonah to love......and I do!!! _________________ gene , jonah , miko and rumor

Peanut just gained a few lbs as she tries to finish off Beau's food if he isn't fast enough so she's back to the Canidae Senior/Overweight formula again hahahaaaaaa it works too _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

Glad to hear he's on the mend.
Hugs! |
He only gets 3 cups of canidae split into two portions morning/night and a few lo-cal cookies a day. That's what Miko eats also, and Rumor gets 4 (skinny little devil)! Vet says metabolism for Jonah must be lower.
Mija.......Jonah says thanks, and there is a whole lotta head shakin' goin' on!! |
Wow, Jonah must have a slow metabolism, Annabelle eats about 4 cups of Canidae
I'm sure once you get him back to the park and walks he will slim down, he sure does not look that big
Don't feel bad Jonah, you aren't alone, I have Jello ribs too _________________

Gene, not to alarm you, but has Jonah ever had his thyroid tested? The low metabolism and ear problems sent up a red flag for me...
I am hypothyroid, so know the symptoms quite well. LOL
Here's a good article on it "just in case".

If he is, it's not a major expense or hassle to control, but untreated it can lead to a lot of other nasty problems. _________________ www.tinkerdoodle.net

Sorry to hear of the ear/allergy problems. marley is having his issue too, allergy wise but not as bad as last year. We are keeping a close eye on it. Hope Jonah's issues disappear quickly. As well as the weight.
3 cups a day plus treats and he weighs 95 lbs? wow. But you are right, summer will help slim him down. Marley gets about a little better than 4 cups a day plus treats and he is holding steady around 54 lbs. Almost too thin, but my vet says no problem. He says he is at an ideal weight. I think he is a little light but the vet says keep him lean and he will live longer. We are not purposely keeping him lean but that is the way it is working out. He is very active and gets lots of exercise, so I am sure that is the biggest contributing factor to slim figure. But he is strong. _________________ Greg

Jonah, poor boy, hope your ears get to feeling better today.
We have a friend that has a dog with hypothyroidism. They thought for years he was allergy sensitive. It's when he started losing his hair (and switched vets) they found out about thyroids in dogs. Look into it on the next visit, allergy season or not. |

Goods news this evening.....Jonah's happiness indicator (his tail) is beginning to rise again!! A very happy sight for me when I got home from work. I need to call the vet tomorrow, But does anyone know if it's ok to clean the ears while they're being medicated?? Just a damp cloth......he's shaking out some pretty gross stuff!! _________________ gene , jonah , miko and rumor

Gene, it should be fine as long as you're careful not to shove the guck back inside.
You might even try a few drops of tea tree oil with will help kill off the bacteria quicker. I use that instead of antibiotics on both my kids and dogs. _________________ www.tinkerdoodle.net
