It started at 7:43pm CST and just a small portion is covered now. There won't be another one until 2010.

Took Marley out for a walk just after 9 PM. Clear skies allowed us to see it very clearly. At the time it had a orangeish hue to it. Pretty cool.

Unfortunately, the lack of clouds allows what little heat there is to escape. Temps hovered near zero at that time. When I got up this morning for Marley's walk at 4:45 am, I turned on the TV to see how cold it was.....MINUS 17 Yikes!!! Sad Sad Marley must have sensed it because he did his business quicker than he ever has and we were back in real quick, which was fine with me!! Laughing Laughing

I'm so bummed!! It was overcast, so I couldn't see much. I was REALLY looking forward to seeing Saturn right next to it during the moments of totality....they said that with a good telescope (which I don't have Crying or Very sad ) one would be able to make out its rings! I was going to try with my binoculars, but the sky wasn't cooperating. Massive bummer. Evil or Very Mad

I was just going to say I totally forgot to go to look, but I see I didn't miss anything.

ahem, unfortunately---we did have a telescope and did know all about the "tri-alignment" happening and were ready and primed to look BUT BUT BUT mother nature was NOT cooperative AT ALL.. Evil or Very Mad Crying or Very sad low-lying clouds and precipitation in the air created a heavy blanket--which did leave us with snow this morning though. Very Happy Very Happy

ahh, we'll wait for 2010...it sounds soooo futuristic and far-away doesn't it!! Shocked Shocked Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

p.s. by that time, you can ALL come visit us in New Mexico before you leave on your Space Flights--they say the spaceport will be ready by then!! Very Happy Very Happy Cool Cool Cool

Yup! The sky was clear and I could see it by looking out the door to my patio. I didn't watch the whole time, but every now and then I'd go look. Nicky slept through it all!
