| The breeder was VERY happy to hear from me and said that the family had emailed her about Bodzin being shy and not coming out of his crate because they thought that he was scared of their children. She thinks that he was actually the 4th puppy in the photos, but isn't totally sure. Really nice lady whom I will probably go visit sometime. |

Congratulations! What an adorable pup. Just curious...Bodzin is a cute (and interesting) name. Did you name him? Or did he already have a name? Is there a story there?
Welcome to the forum. I'm new here, too & waiting for my puppy to be old enough to come home.
Sigh...it seems like a really long wait. _________________ Lori & Baxter |

Glad everything went well when you talked to the breeder! Does Bodzin seem skittish to you? Maybe the previous owners kids were holy terrors... _________________ Mindi

To answer some questions above....
Bodzin is the last name of a German music producer who makes dance music. My husband owns www.lovevinylrecords.com and Stefan Bodzin is one of his favorite producers right now. We thought it was unique and reflected the fact that both my husband and I have German backgrounds.
As for the skiddish thing... he definitely is scared of new people. He barks to warn us of other people. If a person comes right up to him and starts petting him, he is cool with that. However, if the person is reluctant or just stands there, Bodzin tries to get us to go away with him from where the people are. However, he has learned some of our friends (we have only had him three weeks) and doesn't bark now with them.
For a while he was like a leech on my side, but now he likes to hang out by th front door, kinda like he is guarding the door. He has interacted with two 2-4 year olds so far and was fine with them after introductions.
I really hope that he can get to the point where he isn't afraid of people at first.... |

Congrats on the new pup. I once adopted a 7 month old Siberian Husky many years ago and she showed signs of being physically abused. She never was quite as trusting as my other dogs, but with a lot of love and patience she turned out OK. _________________ Chas P., Carol and Ozzie |

Probably the worse thing to do, if he's doing anything you don't want to encourage around other people is to pet him or talk to him or try to use "human psychology" on him while he's doing it. That is going to instill the behavior. I would recommend Caesar Millian's show and book(s). He's great at what he does.
Good luck. With love (and strong pack leader energy) he should get over his fear of people. |

I bookmarked your husbands site. I had my dream job for 10 years managing an indie record store in Florida that did new and used cds and LPs......I loved it. It certainly "swelled" my collection!! I totally agree with the quote......VINYL IS TRUE SOUND.
Sorry.....back to the original topic!! _________________ gene , jonah , miko and rumor

I just watched an episode of Dog U and there was a dog who was afraid of people. The trainer had non threatening people come up randomly and offer incredibly good treats. Also talked about how you should not pet a dog on his head, it's threatening to them, they want to be able to see your hand and can't if it is on top of their head. Most dogs don't like this. He said to pet him on his chest or back, not head. And he also had a confident friendly dog go on a walk together with the scared dog to let the scared dog see how a dog is supposed to interact with strangers/people. It definitely worked and the dog was wonderful by the end of the show...30 minutes, amazing |
