After having a dog for 2 years, we recently put her down after she bit my 10 year old on the face. She was 1 year old when we rescued her from a local pound. Despite how hard we tried, she really wasn't a good family pet. My husband only wants another dog if it doesn't shed, is hypoallergenic, has a super temperment and isn't more than 35-50 lbs. I discovered the Australian Labraddodle but I really want to save a puppy fom a reputable shelter. No one in our family has allergies and I know there are dogs that are "low shed".Why should I pay $2,500 for an AL?

OK to hopefully put this on a good note:

1. The breeder should be the one who talks and then you realize why you'd pay $$$$ for a particular doodle

2. F1b's, f2 and aussies tend not to shed....there is one drawback to curly poodle type coats....they matt and need grooming

3. Aussie LD vs american LD? that is like asking which came 1st
chicken or egg? hahhahahaaa

4. it is a personal choice as both types of doodles are great dogs

good luck in your search
and i can say that we all feeel so close to our doodles and love them fiercely no matter if they were rescued, a basement bargain, on clearance or came from top notch/reliable breeders

Doodles are known for LOW TO NON shedding qualities, beautiful temperments, wanting to be included with the family and giving tons of love and laughter

it's up to US to ensure that when we take a doodle into our home we give them love, training, guidance and keep up a sense of humor so that doodle can be all he can be...and hopefully NOT shed Wink

You sound like you already have you mind made up. Why beat a dead horse? Spend the $2500 and get "exactly" what you want.

You can see from all the responses that everyone has given you sound advice based upon their personal experience. You may of course either accept or reject their opinions. But now it seems you're just trying to stir the pot. Buy your AL; there's nothing more to say that hasn't already been said.

Annmarie Good Advice!!!

Maya was a "bargin" pup as well. Her mama had a litter of 10-12 so trying to sell 10-12 puppies is a lot of work.

Denver was from a litter of 12 as are all my breeders standard litters
She only breeds F1's and so far has never had trouble selling them
Every puppy so far has been sold by 8 weeks old. So she has no trouble getting $1100.00 per puppy. Not to say that it is not hard work, as it is
just maybe easier to sell for that price where I live...................

Oh yeah she sell her mini's for $1500.00 and they always go fast as well.

Just got back from Tanner's vet appointment. Vet told me that the man who owns her building bought an Australian Labradoodle from Australia no less, paid $3,500. When he arrived his from legs were so deformed...He ended up having to have surger from an orthopedic specialist in California...spent $10,000. She said he could afford it but still...why would the breeder do this...Buyer beware. How much you spend doesn't really mean anything in the end does it.

And that in a nutshell says it all. Wink Wink
We all choose our Doodle generations according to what
we like. I chose my breeder after a lot of research and she
happens to breed F1's and her prices are in the range of what
is charged in BC for F1's anywhere from $800.00 to $1200.00
The people on this forum are very concerned for everyone's else's
dog regardless of what generation it is or how much money was or
was not spent. I hope we can put to rest the notion that one generation is better
or is not better that any other as it comes down to preference
folks and that is all. Heck if someone here has a monkey and they
want to post something about it we would all be concerned and offer
help anyway we can. Enjoy your Doodles and every other kind of creature that you are lucky
enough to share your life with. Wink Wink Wink
