We live in the country, but the small town we get our mail from had a sheltie lost just before Christmas. They would update the flyers weekly and I thought the dog was diffinitely gone because it was a good month they were looking for the dog. She was a show dog and I thought someone must have taken her. But just before Christmas, there was a sign on their front yard announcing that they had found her. I don't know where it had been, but the point is they found her and she is now safe at home.
I'm getting so I check this site often to see where you found them. I know you will get them back, there are just too many people out there looking for them! We'd all help if we could!

Just checked this site after a few days absent. You and your pups are in my prayers, too.
About 6 months ago my sister's beloved chihuahua got out... meter reader left the gate open. He was gone for 6 days during blazing Texas summer heat, with no tags on, and he had NOT been microchipped. Nevertheless he found a ranch house several miles away and across an major Interstate Highway. The family took him in and combed the burrs out of his fur and took him to the vet to check him out. My sister had distributed flyers all over the place, but not on the other side of the interstate. The vet had seen the flyer in a grocery store nearby and they called my sister, who was sure she would never see Quito again. But she went over and picked him up and though he had lost weight and a lot of fur, all was well. Don't give up. They're out there somewhere and they are resourcefull creatures.
I also believe that our creator made dogs to heal us and show us love. I believe that someone greater than all of us cares very much what happens to Lizzie and Calvin. May you find comfort while you wait. _________________ Lisa and George and Gracie

Leslie,
I would like to help. I have some free time and could be making calls for you. Sometimes little, obscure towns have their own animal shelter. Our town does and it usually only has about 3 dogs and a very small budget.
If you want, you can PM me the name of your town and I will start a search of little towns to see if they have a local shelter.
Here is a newspaper where a lost and found ad will give you ALOT of exposure:

I know you have to go back to work tomorrow, so let me know if I can do anything long distance for you.
And, just a VERY long shot: Dogs will often try to find their way home or go to somewhere familiar. Can you check with Lizzie's previous owners or get some flyers into the area? I could also start calling shelters/vets in THAT area if it is different from your area. I have unlimited long distance on my phone.
And same for Calvin, if you adopted him as an older dog (I don't remember if he was a puppy when you got him?)
And again, if either dog is microchipped, maybe even from a previous owner or the shelter? Make sure the chip company is updated with YOUR info.
I know you are sick with worry, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. |

Leslie, I just dont' know how I missed this...I would have been frantic...my Bayley ran away once, when she was pregnant and about ready to deliver! She was only gone for about 5 hours, but we live in an area with drug production and people who have mean dogs to guard their property...I was so afraid.
When she found her way home, and she did on her own, she came crawling in...she was so exhausted and sore, and in shock, I think. She just fell over onto the floor and didn't move for hours. I went to the floor by her side and didn't move either.
I was so grateful. I can't imagine spending nights not knowing where they are or how they are...bless your heart.
I am so glad that you have them home with you now.
You know, Bayley has never tried to get out the front door or run away since that day. She learned a very hard lesson. _________________ jacque.bayley.lexie.chase.rosie.nitos.amelia.dupree.madison.sherwood.gerry www.backporchlabradoodles-jacque.blogspot.com www.backporchlabradoodles.com |
