Welcome Murphy and family!
You're very lucky to get him. He's a doll. We tried several times to get a Doodle from a shelter and just weren't fast enough. It must have been fate.
Love the picture with you're daughter. They look like they will be perfect friends! And the size with the other pup looks like they'll be a great match. _________________ Annette

| Thanks so much! I have to agree with the compliments, Im starting to belive finding Murphy was fate too. Crazy to think we almost left the store where they bring the dogs too! We decided to take a closer look and started talking about the other dogs when he came in! Yes the size is a good match even if Murphy does get a ittle bigger. Oscar is 5 years and seems to be settling into a big brother role rather easily. As far as the baby and Murph they are the same age so hopefully they will be good friends. |

Fabulous pictures!!! Both of your dogs are wonderful and the picture with your child is so heartwarming...wow!
AnnMarie, I really laughed at your question...and comment! Anyone who knows me, from this forum or in person, knows that all of the things I know about dogs, I have learned the hard way! My dogs are great to mind me now...one on one...but get the pack together and I give up! Soooo, when I give advice...know that I am telling you things that I have had to learn first hand and that, even though I have lots of ideas...not every one works every time! You will find some of my posts about dog antics...perhaps if you can find the thread about calendar pictures and read about our adventures, you will know...we struggle every day!
Now, about Murphy's feet...I can honestly say that I have never noticed! I think that is because my dogs have so much fur on their feet! But, I'll take a look and get back to you. _________________ jacque.bayley.lexie.chase.rosie.nitos.amelia.dupree.madison.sherwood.gerry www.backporchlabradoodles-jacque.blogspot.com www.backporchlabradoodles.com |

I find Max is a daily training experience but have fallen so much in love with him in such a short time ..we've only had him 2mos and we loook forward to each day with Max.
On a serious note: jac your advice comes in so handy many times I really do appreciate what you have to contribute. thanks for all that you share _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

The other dog is a border collie mix of some sort. Kris and I ran in to a lady walking a dog who looked exactly (and I mean to a T) like Oscar (who was 25% larger). The lady told us that he was a Tri-Color Border Collie.
I guess it is a breed, we looked it up that night and found a little information on them. He is just Oscar to us though, and I don't know what we would do without him.
Regards,
Eric

Max,
Oscar was adopted as well, all of our animals were. It is our perfered method, even our hamster was adopted. We moved to this base three years ago and went to find a dog. My husband is a big dog person and well I was content with my 15lbs cat that played fetch, but there was no stopping his need for fur. So off we went to the local pound there we came across this dirty, smelly, skinny, leggy thing that was greeting us by jumping vertically higher than our headsinside his chain link kennel. My husbands response, "Oh Awsome!". Mine, "No way". He says "Come on please! Lets at least meet him." I said "...fine." So out comes the NBA mascot and he was a dream. Fully mannered well trained and a total doll. So he came home. The pound said he was an Australian shepard mix, the vet said she didnt know. Then one night we where out walking him and a miniture Oscar came walking toward us. His name was Captin. Captin was a purebred short haired border collie. His owner was the daughter of a lifelong breeder of boarder collies and informed us that although its not wanted Borders can throw whats caled a smooth coat, she and I chated for a bit about personality and everything fit. And Captin did look exactly like Oscar except for a liver spot on his nose. Mistery solved! ...until...when we where out this weekend to see if anyone who needed a home needed ours, we went down to a one woman show who is both general shelter and a Austraian shepard rescue. When we said Oscar was a short hair Border collie she said he was a mix. Because he was shedding. That both Aussies and Borders are seasonal shedders and Lab shed year around, so the fact that he was standing there shedding in late November and his head wasnt quite right, he was probably a Lab mix. I looked her dead in the eye and tod her we didnt care he was just right for us...So Max I guess the answer to what Oscar is, is a mix between perfect and ours. He is our well manered inside, crazy on the leash, smarter than he looks, surprising when you least expect it, full of loving gaurd dog. He is whatever they make Oscars out of. Hope that helps clear things up. |

hahaha...AnnMarie, I knew you wouldn't send me teenagers...but, gosh, if you did, I'd love it! LOL I am just old enough that I have forgotten the challenges! (I knew you were having fun...and I appreciate that...I love teasing and laughter!)
Now, about Max's paws! I checked...under all of that fur...my dogs pads don't turn up...at least not that I could tell. _________________ jacque.bayley.lexie.chase.rosie.nitos.amelia.dupree.madison.sherwood.gerry www.backporchlabradoodles-jacque.blogspot.com www.backporchlabradoodles.com |

No idea guys. The paw thing is something I just noticed yesterday when I was brushing him. He was standing up an leaning back with the strokes on his back and I noticed they where doing it. No biggie, if it doesnt bother or hurt him, doesnt bother me. I have double jointed hands and fingers so I would definaty be the pot to his kettle. Just something to ask the vet. Thanks for everyone whos crawling under the ol'doggies though . |

Jac, I have a couple teenagers too...I'd be willing to send them!
Good poop picker-uppers---when you remind them.
Good at feeding dogs---when you remind them. Good at letting dogs in and out---when you remind them.
VERY good at eye-rolling---when you remind them to do any of the above. _________________ Annette

ethrig...hahha ok Max is the doodle . ME is mom aka annmarie
now i have that song "i'm a little teapot short and stout"...it was your reply about being dbl-jointed yourself..(don't ask...long day! lol)
oh thought i'd let y'all know my dad is a outer banks southerner that grew up on a farm training all animals: dogs, horses, pigs, cows etc.
long story short: dad said Max is a labradoodle? well i'll tell ya he's one darn smart dog and watch out HE CAN THINK TOO!"
(remember to put this in a southern sounding way)
Max stole my family's hearts while they visited for 5 days.
MOM says" wow he can do so many expressions with his eyes. who can resist him.(found out she snuck tidbits--big no no)
Brother: he sure is fast! and a quick learner ( overfed treats to max)
DAD: he aint no ordinary dog...way too smart and wow blacker than night, so sweet and has the purdiest coat ah have ever seen. (gave him walks which ain't dad's style)
summary: doodles have a way of worming into everyone's hearts they enter _________________ Annmarie, Max,& Peanut

| Annmarie, Im getting the jist that they do that, the heart worming thing. And dont worry about the song, too bad you coudnt put a audio file with it would save me from singing it. Its a chart topper around here, it ranks number three behind patt-a-cake and 'We go together' from Greese but only when daddy sings it. |

"Murphy Report"
Tonight we learned about counters and the "I cant jump on the bed" game. We also almost kinda have "sit." down. I think he thinks its fun to hear us say it. Also, still no P's (puddles, piles, or pieces) And finally, Murphy loves snow, running in it, rolling in it, eating it. So its off for night #3.
