Well Rory was with us for about 5 days. My husband called her breeder last night to say we would keep her. He had a couple of questions, She is sooo much more affectionate than any dog we have had, he asked how many homes she has had. The answer was only one guardian home. He also asked how many more times she would be bred--that seemed to create issues that simply were not there. Things led to Sparky being an intact male-which I was so candid about upfront. And all of this led to her breeder saying she wanted to bring her back. I was always concerned about Spark. And I'm sure this was just emotional, but I was suddenly concerned that it was perceived that we would not provide a good home. It was nobodys fault--I'm totally sure now that was not the perception; but it did cause me to shed crockodile tears. So for now, Dakota is once again an only child. Finding the right "sibling" won't be easy--does anyone know of a light colored, very "labby" Labradoodle in Northern CA?? Sniff . . .
Diane (and Dakota--and good bye sweet Rory . . . ) |

hey Diane, thanks for the update. When does/did Rory go back to her breeder?
Please rememberize me...what kind of dog is Sparky? I got confused with his being intact, and Dakota being an "only" baby.

Hi Maureen--Rory left this morning. Sparky is my stepson's Rottie mix. Unfortunately, Sean (stepson) has no sense of responsibility and will not fix his dogs. I do not blame Rory's family for not wanting her around Sparky--I was surprised they went along with it initially (he is not always here--maybe about 15-20 minutes a day.) All is well--we have our number one boy! We have committed to keep in touch (with Rory's family) and as a matter of my emotional recovery, I will insist (hmmm--that goes over well) on help with the Brown Trout calendar. When Gen picked Rory up today, she brought me the 2007 Willow Creek Labradoodle calendar--I'll nag about that as well. I'll do my best to really milk this thing! Gosh, I hope Gen isn't reading this--if so she will hopefully forgive me!
Oh, and we got Dakota after we lost our last Lab, Seazr; so he has been our only baby, but I have always hinted about a second dog.
Hi Shannon
He is the kind of cutie bug we would be looking for. I don't know if you've ever experienced a guy like mine but I'm not at all sure I could coax him down to San Clemente--but, I will pursue it . . .

We also drove to Indiana to goto a romp there, and we are in Illinois. _________________ Shannon - Phantom, Star, Fozzie & Roni

Hey Diane, I managed to get my husband to drive about 6+ hours with me to get Archie...ok, it was really the picture that convinced him but I showed him the picture so it was kind of like me..who got him to do it.
Hang in there...like everyone in this group told me...these things work out like they are supposed to. _________________ Annette

Well in retrospect, my husband wants to buy a new truck this weekend, so for a short window I could probably talk him into driving anywhere! Things do work out the way they should and we're fine with it.

Diane, When I read your last post I had to laugh because a new vehicle purchase is how we got Toby! My husband ordered a Pontiac Solstice this past March (we just got it 2 weeks ago). On father's day he must have been feeling a little guilty so when I was checking out the breeder's website and found out they had 1/2 price puppies he said go ahead if you want to! My sister called from Iraq, checked out the website, picked out the same puppy I did and the rest is history. We drove 13 hours round trip the next day to pick him up. So new cars and puppies go together in my mind _________________ Lisa, Lani and Toby

Yep! I can not tell a lie. I will have to admit though on the ride down I kept thinking, " WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!??!!" LANI IS ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD!!!!!! It has worked out perfectly and wear each other out. _________________ Lisa, Lani and Toby

hey Diane, why don't you just take a road trip up to Jacque and Dave's house and see all the harmonious happy living they do with all their Doods! He'll think 2/3 dogs is a BREEZE! _________________ ~Maureen
