I've read various postings here about the 2006 Labradoodle Calendar cover girl . Well, she lives in Davis CA--very close to us--and she is available for guardianship. Sooo, she met Dakota this weekend and is now staying with us for a week to see how things work. She is a love; very affectionate! It's funny; she is "sugar and spice and everything nice" and Dakota is "snails and nails and puppy dog tails! "
I do have issues to deal with--why can't things be easy???
--Sparky, our son's Rottie mix, visits almost daily and he is an intact male. Not a good mix with a breeding female.
--My husband, in the 20 years we have been together, has never bonded with a dog the way he has bonded with Dakota. He looks at Dakota and says things like, "But THIS is my little buddy!" Sheesh--that makes it easy . . . although he does seem to like Rory--she keeps trying to snuggle in his lap!
--Sean, Gene's son, is seemingly jealous of a new dog coming into our home. Sparky, his dog, and Seazr, the dog we inherited from him would fight to the death given a chance, so Sparky was not allowed in our house. Dakota, on the other hand, LOVES Sparky--which is exactly the dog-to-dog relationship Sean has longed for and I think he's afraid that will change.
Well, we'll see . . . she IS a love and I have always liked having two dogs. But we do WANT THE BEST for both Rory and Dakota--Sparky doesn't get a full vote, he just drops in for a few minutes!

She's a cutie and she and Dakota look good together. Sounds like there are a few complications about keeping her, but, I hope you can work it out. |

Thanks Maureen--we're quite fond of our big boy Dakota! I have contacted Brown Trout and they will not return my emails. Since Sierra Vista seems to have an "in" Gen said she would help us.

Hey Diane, that is great news about you and Rory. Would Rory be returning to Sierra Vista during her heat cycle to be bred? That would eleviate some of the issues with Sparky wouldn't it? _________________ Vicky (Jett and Copper) |

Hi Vicky!
Oh yes!!! That was stipulated up-front! The good news is, she and Dakota had a wonderful romp today (for the first time!)--the whole intent was to have good friends and companions!!

You mean Dakota does something besides chase tennis balls? It is good that he has a dog friend! _________________ Vicky (Jett and Copper) |

Ummmm . . . occasionally there's someting besides a tennis ball in his life! But it's so cute when there is a couple of boys to throw the ball for him!
