| Anyone ever have a dog get a Ear Hematoma? One of my dogs Brandy has one, i went out the other morning and her ear was all swollen, my mother in-law said that happened to one of her cats. I guess it was caused by ear mites. I guess you can do surgery to repair the blood vessel, or you can just let it heal but then the ear is going to be all scared. I feel sorry for her, the vet said i can prevent it by giving my dogs Ivomec (cattle dewormer), my mother in-law has been using it on her cats and its been working. So i guess i'm going to try it on Brandy, and hope it helps. Jennifer |

I have a lab that has had 2 hematomas. One on each ear. The one that had surgery looks a bit weird, but the one that healed on its own looks normal. Maybe that will help in your decision. _________________ Shannon - Phantom, Star, Fozzie & Roni

I had a lab that had one and ear got so swollen we had no choice but to do the surgery my Vet said it can actually cause them problems if you don't it's been a few years ago so I don't remember what would happen so I can't help you there but as long as you have talked to your vet about it I'm sure it will be okay. I do remember them saying that t usually happens when something is bothering their ears like mites or a bad ea infection and they shake their heads and maybe hit the ear on something and that causing the problem. _________________ Linda & Gracielou
