Thanks for caring so much Bianca, and let us know what we can do, or have your mom let us know. I am glad she is out of danger, but she still needs a home.

Bianca, for someone in their teens you have the heart and and soul of a much older person. Hold on to your passions they will carry you far in life. your mom must be so proud of you! Zeena is very fortunate to have you and your mom looking out for her. Good luck with your summer job.

My My I must add for a teen you are very responsible!!! I don't think any Vet that has any kind of heart would put a healthy dog down unless it had attacked a child most would take the animal and try and re-home or call the shelter which isn't always the best but they won't just destroy them.
I hope your Mom keeps us updated on Zeena. |

UPDATE:
Here's an email I got from Bianca's mom: ------------------------------------------ HI there, Bianca is now in camp and I will take Zeena in for the next two weeks while her owners are on vacation.Afterwards it will be decided what will happen with Zeena and right now I am quite confident that she will not euth.her, but hopefully some rescue org.will take her. We know Adopt a dog fairly well, I had adopted a dog through them years ago and I already gave them some thought as well. Thanks for your concern!!! ------------------------------------------- I emailed her back to let her know that we can help find her more resources if those we have given her do not work out. I also asked her to keep us updated. I will post her responses when they come in. |

Thanks for the update Kelly. Maybe the next 2 weeks can be a good training session, and we can hear how the doodle really is.

Hi everyone....
I'm back from camp and wanted to update you on Zeena. She's still at my aunt's, and because of an odd family situation, I'm actually living with my aunt, cousins, and Zeena now. After experiencing Zeena firsthand for about a week now, I honestly can't see why everyone is so frusterated with her. She is very calm and has finally settled down with the two cats (after 10 months!). All she really lacks is consistant training and socialization. If she had been started on the right foot she would have been fine and she is fine for most of the day- just little things need work; whenever someone passes the house, she runs to them and barks like crazy.... I think my aunt thinks Zeena (or all dogs for that matter) should be preprogrammed not to run up to people...so it is automatically the dog's fault that they do My aunt has picked up a brochure for a nearby dog training facility, but her opinion keeps changing whether she wants to keep Zeena or not. One day she really is a great dog, and the next she's a terror. sigh. However, In the mean time, one of our neighbor's daughter's works at a local animal rescue group and is looking for a potential family. For now, she's safe though. I've been kind of working with her...I'm no dog trainer, but I've watched the Dog Whisperer...lol. I started trying to get her to stop jumping on people (for some reason, this is the only thing my aunt doesn't mind. But its still not a good habit!) by keeping her up by holding her paws...I think someone mentioned that here on the forum...and already, I'm the only person she won't jump on anymore. Smart dog. But we'll see what happens... I think that the threat of euthanasia at the beginning was out of stress and frustration (although I still think its absurd! I'll keep you updated. Bianca PS: Today is Boomer and Zeena's 1st birthday! |

Thank you so much for the update Bianca! I did email with your mom a couple of times while you were away and she told me that Zeena was still with your aunt but no longer in danger of being killed. Thank you for completing the story and giving us some more details.
If your aunt does decide she wants to give Zeena up, just try to get a few weeks notice and we can all try to help find a family for her. Thanks again for the update!!! -Kelly |
