Thanks for everyone's well wishes for Monet..so far she is feeling good, acting normal and appears happy...we did not receive any pics from the ultrasound...They were little "Blobs" on the screen, but looking at the little heart beats beating away was so so well....emotional for me, tears welled up immediatley when I saw them....I guess a maternal thing was going on....Ill keep you all posted when they are delivered...

Monet had 4 healthy pups Thank God on Saturday night. Labor and delivery lasted 3 1/2 hours..had her first pup in her crate in the kitchen when my back was turned to fill up a pot of coffee ugg , what a surprise hearing a lil squealing under her in the crate, but she knew what to do, then I knew what to do..I scooped up the pup and brought the pup to her whelping area and then she had 3 more pups without any further drama... all the while remembering what the vet had told us about "it may be a tight fit "according tothe Xrays , the pups were looking quite large compared to her pelvic outlet..we thought we would be having an emergency c section...haa haa thank you God for proving that wrong.

We consider ourselves seasoned breeders but it just goes to show, always expect the unexpected...she is showing her Maternal talents shine through every minute taking perfect care of her babes...we are so happpy for her...One of them looks dark, still cant decide if its light brown or red yet...I guess time will tell....

Today its a hot one..dont worry about them catching cold..ahh the beauty of Summer Litters...

Oh! Beautiful pups! Congratulations!!! I am so happy that all went well in the "surprise" delivery! LOL They certainly do things in their own time, eh?
The pups are gorgeous! Love their coats...wow!
I think that the two dark pups are apricot and red...beautiful!

Todd,Jac,Kathie,
Thank you ..yes it is an amazing time once again, but this time watching one of our different Female's taking care of her newborns & doing it quite well....Monet is not like Kelsey in personality...I do not know how to describe it , let me just say she is more sensitive to different situations....if you accidentally step on her she will whelp so loud, if you do this to Kelsey she'll just get up & move away without any drama....we were expecting such drama during this labor of hers and she certainly surprised us with her quick delivery of 4 pups. Her attitude towards the pups is pure protection mode....detests Kelsey anywhere near her pups, will growl at her as if to tear her throat out if she attempts anytihing near the pups ( which she has) accidentally got in through the slider doors and immediatley went in the whelping box and laid down near them...Monet didnt take kindly to this act of concern on behalf of Kelsey's part....if only she could allow Kelsey to help her she could rest more....Its apparent thats what Kelsey wants to do..her maternal instincts kicking in to full speed ahead....funny to see...not funny to Monet though...Oh well maybe in another 2 weeks she will relax more , once pups are up & running about....

Thank you again for your nice comments...

Hey, Martha...I love you comments...I feel like I am right there, enjoying it all!

I do want to caution you about your females though...I would not let Kelsey near the pups...or even in the room with them, until they are at least 4-5 weeks old. Really...my dogs are very close (they are sisters) and they get along so well, but when it comes to the pups...no way! They do not let any person or dog within a foot of the doorway...they won't leave the pups, even to potty, unless I shut the door and they know that the other dogs can't go near them.

I read, on the breeder's forum, horror stories about females actually fighting to the death over pups...and these were pets that got along very well...plus, you don't want a fight in the same area as the pups because they would get crushed...best to keep that area completely safe.

That is one thing I guard as fiercely as my mama dogs...the space of the pups. I won't take any chances. When the pups are older and the mama goes out to potty, I will sometimes take one of the pups to let the other dogs sniff...but that is all...and then it is back with the others before mama comes back!
