I got Brenna on June 23rd. She is just nine weeks old. She is coming when called and now will sit when I tell her. For treats I have smashed Milk Bones with a meat mallet and just give her pieces.
She knows her name and reacts to it. I got a labradoodle because DD has one and she is extremely sweet and smart. I didn't realize they were this smart. She is funny and started barking when I sneezed today, poor thing and I laughed so hard. Hope to learn a lot here. |

Hehe! Yes, they ARE that smart!
We taught Jasper to shake yesterday and he learned in about 15 minutes. We tried it again today and he remembered! It's absolutely crazy!! Aren't they awesome!! |

they really are that smart..it s just incredible how fast they adapt and learn..
Toby did nt even need treats..he just wanted to please..you could actually see his desire to please in his eyes..and when the treats did come out..he just responded faster.. my daughter graduated from med school just a couple yrs ago as Toby started his obedience training..and the wife had to say that Toby is the second smartest in the family..i could nt argue with that point.. i think of the quote in Marly and Me..Labradoodle s are *like children cept they learn faster.. |

Hey Brenna
They are very smart pooches i can tell you that Our little guy is 16 months old now but we had worked out how smart he was at 16 weeks old We got him at 8 weeks old, as soon as he arrived home the wife and i took him out the backyard to show where the toilet was, while we were out these i grabbed a small squeaky toy and threw it too him. He picked it up and ran to me but did not drop it, i grabbed it off him and threw it again he bought it straight back to me but did not prop it, so again i grabbed it from him and threw it again this time he bought it back and dropped it on my foot. That was it he has fetched ever since and we didnt even really show him. We has visitors over about a week later and my sister asked if he shakes hands , and too be honest i had not tried it so i put my hand and and he just did it without anything really from us. He has been a dream too train too be honest but a little bugger when he wants too be We lucked out with Coby, since we got him he has had 2 accidents inside the house both only pee, he does not bark when left out side unless we get visitors and he wants inside. Within the first week of being home he would paw at the back door if he wanted to goto the toilet but also knew that was away out side and started to give false alarms I love the little guy oh not so little any more at 27kg Last edited by glenncol; 07-06-2011 at 06:36 PM. |

I agree! Malcolm is 9 weeks old too and he's been here for 5 days. He also knows his name and sits when told. Working on "come" and he's doing quite good! We need to work on leash skills, though so he can quit trying to walk
