New here and happily awaiting arrival of "medium" ALD, supposedly will grow to height of about 20", but I know that's shoulder height. Which crate size would you suggest: 30"L x 21"W x 24"H OR 36"L x 24"W x 27"H? My place is small so I want the most compact size that makes sense and is cozy for her, but don't want her to outgrow it either. Mom was standard size, dad was mini. Thanks.

WELCOME TO OUT FORUM!
I'm not great with measurements, but what I always suggest is a crate that has the divider in it to expand as the doodle grows. The general rule of thumb is that the pup should have enough space to stand up and turn around. Any larger, and they may have room to mess. Bogart is 70LBS and still uses his puppy crate.......he just likes to go in there at his convenience. Now, if he were a doodle that size that had to be confined to the crate, which he doesn't, it might be too small. 36L 23H 22W........I had to go and measure it.. That's what I got ..... ![]() Hope this helps!

if your going to use the crate in the future, as your doodle grows..get the
large with a divider..as he/she grows you could always expand the living space in the crate.. that s the route i went thinking he would be a long term resident of the crate..but, Toby poddy trained quickly and began using the doggie door on his own his second week with us..a smaller one would have worked out just find in our case.. |

I was here before our puppy arrived asking the same question. I wound up using the crate the breeder gave us for a few weeks, and then bought one on Craigslist for 50 bucks. This one is 28 inches long, which is smaller than what the breeder recommended (she said atleast 32) but we figured buying it used gave us the option of trading up later. So far its been a great size, I don't see Milo out growing it soon, he is almost 5 weeks old, about 25 pounds and there is plenty of room in there for him.
