Default New member color question

Hello everyone,
I'm very happy I found this forum.
I have spent days reading, going back to 2007
Anyway, my new pup is a chocolate, but she has a tiny bit of white on her chest and a bit in the groin area
as well.
I have read about colors etc. and know what a parti-color is. She isn't one but could the white she is
showing mean she is a carrier of the parti gene?
Is the parti gene dominate or recessive?
Thanks much

Hi! Welcome! We are always so happy to have new Doodles and their familes join! I am so glad that you have been reading the archives. There is so much good info in the older posts. Your girl is adorable!

Ah, the parti question...sometimes it just finds us by surprise! But, the best way to tell is to know what the parents carry. Do you know of the parents? If one is a full parti, your girl WILL carry.

If you don't know...then there is some doubt. You could just have a mismark. One way to know is if your puppy, when tiny (just a week old) had spotted paw pads. That pattern goes away so she probably doesn't still have it...but if she did, she could be parti factored.

Parti gene is recessive.

The only way to be sure is to know her parentage.
